Both sizes will kill you but the 1k will kill you just a few seconds faster. Respect both.

HaHa I was thinking the same thing. I've had many Kz's a couple of GPZ's and several CB hondas. I never really cared for the suzuki after I had a couple of GS's that had clutch rod problems. Oh yeah and the yamaha seca was a little hauler too. I'm clueless about the newer stuff.

Yep, the KZ's where the hot setup back then. Nothing like high hp engines in spaghetti frames, made for high speed riding, fun.
My hot setup was a '82 GPz1100 turned into a street legal drag bike. Lowered, longer swing arm, modified Mikuni injection system, Kerker KR competition exhaust system, headwork, etc... Loved to pull the slip on off and ride around, and have others see flames shooting out the collector pipe.
Only bike that would give me a run for the money back then is the Suzy-Q GS1150E.

I have a good friend that has a mint 80 or 81 Z1R (the go-fast KZ1000) in factory race green. I love that bike! I'd buy it today if he'd sell it! Grew up watching Eddie Lawson kicking rear on that bike!

Even though it's not feasible for everyone but I wish anyone that wanted to ride street bikes could grow up riding dirt/enduro/motorcross bikes. The skills you learn on the dirt go a long way on the street!

If you're smart, there is nothing wrong with getting a liter bike. My buddy started out on it and everyday I reminded him of that fact and he put over 10000 miles on it without an accident. Me on the other hand, I am not a smart man, so I started on a yzf 600. A year later bought a new 98 r1. Haven't looked back, liter bikes the rest of the way. I have a fully chromed out 01 r1 (my look good bike,) and a 03 gsxr 1000 (my go fast and stupid bike.) I've had them all. R1's have always been my favorite though.

If you want the best of both worlds, go for the gsxr750. It has great power and handles like a 600.
