I have an 06' Honda CBR 1000RR and so far man it's been a sweet bike! This thing flat out hauls the mail....way more juice than my old 02' Yamaha R1!
Comfort wise the Honda is great, I've rode the new Kawi's and the Yamaha's and they are way more uncomfortable than the Honda. I've always been a Yamaha guy, but having switched to the Honda I've been extremely happy with it.

Had both 1998 R1, and a 2003 R1... Loved em both, the 03' was alittle smoother since it had fuel injection. Either one was to much power for the street, u can hit 80 in 1st gear. Got a couple speeding tickets that made me nervous to drive them, I always felt like I was gonna run into a cop. All the litre bikes have that kind of power, so basically choose which one u think looks best. but pre 2000, the R1 was the best bike hands down.

What is that "literbikes"?
I'm new to this and don't know the terms yet. I've been lookin at a cbrF3 just for something to learn on. I have a friend who is a dealer and can buy wholesale so I'll see what I can get. I only wanna spend about 3000 as this will be my first bike.

Fully endorse my 2001 Honda F4i. 600cc is a good first bike. 3 grand is going to put you in F3 territory like you are thinking. Good choice in my opinion. I love the convenience and performance of fuel injection, which puts you at a 2001 model.
I've heard great things about Kawasaki lately, but I don't think you can go wrong with any of the big 4 (Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki).
Take a motorcycle class if you are new to street riding. It sets up a foundation for safe riding.

Fully back up the the dont get a liter bike statement. If you check out the track times in the magazines you will read how the liter bike gets perhaps 2 seconds faster around a track with the same rider as a 600. You and I will most likely never ride a bike that fast anyways so get a 600.
Honda is the way to go for me but this day and age they are really so close together in performance that if your getting a new one you should just sit on them and get a feel for how it fits you.

I don't need 1000 cc's, heck I probably don't need 600 cc's considering I only weigh 145lbs soaking wet w/ rocks in my pocket!
But................then again I don't really need a cummins w/ all the toys........oh wait yes I do!!!!!
