[/B][/QUOTE] some white rap star-w-a crooked hat/visor, thumping 10" subs, carbon fiber hodded rice rocket driving sitting cockeyed, layed back, talking on the cell phone on my buttocks. I show him how slow my truck can go. I don't slam on the brakes though. If he gets an opening and tries to pass I pay close attention and do my best to prevent it while, again, not endangering other drivers. I try and give him just enough room to NOT pass. I call it "pinching" and I get great pleasure out of a good pinching. In my boring life it is actually something I look forward to.
Thats classic I thought I was the only one that did that

I was acquainted to somebody a few years back who had an awsome 7.3 L Ford; I don't remember it very well and haven't really looked into it, but he had what he called a radar jammer- he had 4 little boxes set up at each corner of his cab and a little control panel by the drivers wheel. Some kind of illegal or quasi-legal electronic countermeasures I would assume.
Anybody know anything about that, or is my memory all foggy?

I think the best detector out there is the V1; but for a hundred less I bought a Passport 8500 X50. I wouldn't purchase anything less than one of those two. You should be interested in a detectors performance against the newer instant-on (pulsed) radars. I wouldn't be too concerned about laser performance, because if you get alerted to a laser, its already too late.
Here's a good site to visit if your looking for some data/tests:

I have the Passport 8500. It has more than paid for itself several times over and I really like it - BUT - I must admit that I was eyeballing the V1s recently - those arrows would sure be handy.
I have noticed that my Passport will often indicate Laser when I turn my windshield wipers on... Maybe has something to do with the spoilers my wipers have "to hold [the] blade down under high speeds". I did contact Escort about the problem and they said to send it in and they'd upgrade the software and check it out - good customer service since its been out of warranty for at least a year now.

Valentine 1 is the only way to go. I didnt know that I could send it back, Ill have to run my serial number on the site. Im going to hard wire it in off the overhead lights, but Im not sure which of the 4 to use in the phone wire, guess Ill open the cigarette adapter and see whats inside... Anyone ever done it?

I didn't have the money for a Valentine, and after much research chose the Bel RX65. It's a very good detector and is rated best by Radar Roy and many others, and is the least expensive of all the high performance detectors. Its performance is impressive. Have it wired into the rear view mirror, so there're no dangling cords and is ignition switched.
The feature I like best about the Valentine is the direction arrows. No others have that. IMO, voice alerts are also a must have, and battery powered units are a no-no.
Problem is, around here the fuzz are going to laser guns, which are tough to beat because you can't pick up bounces off other vehicles. I believe, however, the down side of laser is limited range, so a sharp set of eyes can help. Don't know how well the anti-laser coatings would work on our large rigs.
I'm certainly not a big time or hibitual speeder. But when even a 5 mile-over speeding ticket costs over $100 and increased insurance rates, a good detector is a worthwhile investment.
