Best portable electric compressor?
Best portable electric compressor?
I want to buy a portable electric compressor soon to blow the water out of my drip system at the house between winter waterings. The guy at the irrigation store said the small ones for airing up tires wouldn't cut it. I saw what looked to me like some fairly substantial one at Sears for around $100...

Those little Craftsman red ones with the oil lubed compressor are very good. I have seen them on sale for as low as $89.
So worth it even at $119.
My gauge broke for some reason (probably my fault) and when I went back to BUY a gauge the girl said "Oh we'll just warrantee it" and gave me a whole new compressor with all the attachments. Sheesh.
Senco also makes an oil-less one that comes in a kit with a very nice brad nailer. The compressor is very light and covered in a black plastic housing with about a 1.5 gallon tank. They are very good and will hold air for a long time. Very light too.
Either one is good for light jobs or running a nail gun, paint sprayer, etc. But not up to tire shop duty or plasma cutting or bead blasting. I use both of mine on the job 'cause they are so easy to carry around. I also use one to blow out the water from my trailer water lines for winter layup.
