does anyone make a portable fuel pressure gauge
Having recently joined your website, I cannot help but notice the large number of postings regarding lift pump failures, and the resulting damage that can occur to the injector pump. I am wondering does anyone make a fuel pressure gauge that could temporarily attached (say at oil change time) to check the lift pump pressure?

Re:does anyone make a portable fuel pressure gauge
Thanks, I see that both of these sites are offering the Brian Hopper fuel gauge. So that looks like the direction to take if I don't want to go through the time and expense of mounting a permanent gauge. ;D

You can find one at the local AutoParts store $25. It says not for Diesel, yeah, yeah, yeah. The lift pumps are only 10-18psi, so its not gonna hurt the gauge. I got one and it works perfect. Mine reads to 80psi I think. I use it for my car also. 2 for the price of 1.

Tim

I've been using a Briar Hopper Test gauge for 2 years now and it works great. 8) Just last week I drove around for 4 days with it taped to my windshield just to keep a close eye on the FP. I think I paid $45 for it, and it's one nice looking peace to boot.
Give Tom or Will a call they will hook you right up.

Yes the Briar Hopper gauge will work fine. I would go ahead and mount a per. one though. Just my opinion.

I just put in a Westech electronic gauge last week, and it only took an hour. Needed about 12' of 18ga wire and some connectors, some shrink tubing, and some patience. Got mine from Geno's Garage, about $95.00.

Re:does anyone make a portable fuel pressure gauge
If you have a shop that sells air cond. fittings, you can buy the female shraeder end to fit your truck. Buy an el cheapo low pressure air gauge , some tubing and the necassary fittings to connect the hose to the gauge. That's what I did and it works great. The diesel fuel doesn't have enough pressure to compress the air in the tubing, so you won't get any fuel in your gauge. You should be able to build one for under 20 bucks total. You really should get a permanent one for your cab though
