Best free email?

Been using Yahoo for years for my emails, but it is starting to give me problems, so am thinking about switching. Any recommendations? Which ones to stay away from? I checked and there are zillions to choose from.
What are the pros and cons for gmail?

I used yahoo for a long time and started getting tons and tons of spam so I switched to hotmail. For about a month a while back I got lots of spam, but they updated their system and it now blocks all that and works great now.

I use gmail.
I still have my hotmail.
Both do a good job of filtering Junk mail. Hotmail has gotten better.

GMail, hands down.
  • Benefits:
  • POP (can use mail client)
  • Spam filtering
  • HUGE quota (something like 6 gigs)
  • Very neat calendar feature (operates just like Outlook)
  • Has a "Documents" section where you can use Google's version of Office via a web interface to create/edit/view Word/Excel/PowerPoint documents
  • Gmail has an app for smartphones that looks and behaves just like the web interface

send a PM if you need an invite

So now I just use GMail... I guess its my favorite of all the "free" services.

I wonder why you get so much spam with yahoo .... I rarely get any spam and when I do it goes straight into my bulk folder so I don't even have to mess with it.

If you use MS outlook, Hotmail is more familiar.
Hotmail has an ad banner so it limits the amount of space that is available.

Thanks for the answers. I have switched to GMail and trying it out. If it works will phase out my years old Yahoo account.
