We use EVERYTHING. I have made rootbeer based sauce, ketchup based, anything else you can imagine. Old time pit BBQ in San Angelo, Texas is the best I've had. Lubbock only has Rudy's and Whistlin Dixie but it closed. Can't say I've personally used vinegar, but would like to give it a try. You got a recipe?

EDIT: I forgot to add BBQ isn't BBQ unless it's from TEXAS. . .

The best BBQ is definitely NOT in CALI. Is definitely IS in Texas.

RUDY'S used to be great - last time I went there it s-u-c-k-e-d. I was really dissappointed. Casey's in SA used to be great. Now they're gone and their other place (in Bulverde) isn't too great. I AM DYING FROM BARBEQUE WITHDRAWL. There's a place at Canyon Lake (on 306) called "Skull Creek". It is fantastic.

I'll TRY to get you a recipe, most folks I know that make it themselves either dont give out the recipe, or they just add whatever they have in the kitchen at the time. Its different, but makes pork taste GOOOOOODDDD. I'll ask my boss today at work, he makes some pretty potent BBQ Sauce, havent tried his BBQ sauce though. NC BBQ is where its at Might have to go grab a BBQ sandwich today for lunch.

All you can eat ribs every thursday from Calhouns. I found them in Nashville. at 160# I out ate the guys that where over 250#. Good stuff. great steaks too. Good thing the company was buying my food. Six weeks of that would have broke me.

Can't remember what they called the place, if it even had a official name...
Located about 5 miles south of Longview heading to Kilgore... was on the way to the river area where we went 4'wheelin on weekends....
old mobile home turned BBQ shack......had a big smoker out back that would hold an entire side of beef at once...home made rolls and slaw...

gawd.. I miss that place...............

Where abouts in huntsville is this place? I go to school up there (as a matter of fact I'm there right now) and I'm always interested in a new place to eat.

Not to toot my own horn....but, my Q ain't too bad. I built a 32" diameter smoker that takes up all 16 feet on my lowboy trailer. I do the Houston rodeo cook-off each year and placed 3rd overall with chicken 4 yrs ago, 31st last year and 50th this year... Not too bad when you are competing against 375-400 teams. As far as sauce, really good Q don't need any..... but a molasses/catsup/beer/worchestershire does ok. The best sausage I have found is from a meat market/gas station just east of Hempstead on old 290 called Kroylczk's. Ya have to cook it yourself, but when I do a cook-off or a party, I'll drive 150 miles to go get their sausage.... If ya can't tell, cooking is my main passion, even before my CTD.....LOL

As for restaurant Q, Demeris BBQ, any location in Houston is pretty darn good, and it NEVER varies in quality in the 25 yrs I have eaten there...

Im gonna change my vote,

Any place in Texas is better than any other place in the world for bar-b-cue.

Texans know the fine art of using the correct peppers and just the right amounts of said peppers.

I think I'm seeing different meanings for BBQ. Texas BBQ is different than NC/SC barbeque.

B's barbeque in Greenville NC is pretty darn good eastern and Speedy's is pretty darn good Lexington barbeque.

No idea about the texas style.
