Bed linning
Bed linning
Which bed liner is better?
Rhino linings or Line-X or DIY.
Looking for best looks, durability, and cost. Will be used pretty hard. Lots of engine and heavy stuff bouncing around in the bed. Firewood gas and oils.

I swear by the Line-X brand. I had it in my Dakota for 6 years and never could hurt it and I got it right away in this truck. It really stands up to the abuse.
As far as I am concerned, I have never seen a DIY job that didn't look like a second grader did it. Maybe you can do a nice job of it, but every one that I have seen looked totally unprofessional. Plus they tend to peal off easy. Just my opinion, I could be wrong. Linex has a lifetime warranty. If you ever to hurt it, take back and they will repair it.

LINE-X, is the greatest. We had rhino linings on our 99 1500, and it peeled almost instantly. Everybody I know that has Rhino Linings realizes it was a mistake. I had Line-X in my old 97 1500, and it works good. I fit a heavy 3 row cultivator in the bed of the truck, and it never cracked or did anything else to the line-x. There are also other solutions out there, such as Vortex linings. I've seen these, and they are comparable to Line-X. Even talked with the owner of the company, he gave me a great rate on the truck I have now, but unfortuatlly, my stepdad never got it done($360 over the rails, Line-X wanted $440). And, unlike the other brands, Vortex can be sprayed over itself AND other linings, so you can easily re-patch something if you ever crack it. VERY nice, thats probably what I'm going to get on my truck.
It's my pot and I'll stir it if I want to. If you're not careful, I'll stir your's as well!

I have the box line-x'd over the rails and also got the rockers done up to the trim and around the wheelwells. They can colour match if you choose but I just went for the straight ol black. I had it done by Brian Marchment's Franchise, formerly of the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was a great guy to deal with and fixed me up when I ended up cutting through the line-x with carbides on the snowmobile skiis.

Another vote for Linex. It's been great. Had the box done over the rails and the rockers. I live on a stone road and it was the only way to save the body from an early rusty death. Black rockers on a Driftwood truck looks a little like a two tone paint job.
Line X hands down. This is my first time and its all I will have now. Takes abuse from all sorts of things from wood, to chains, to pallets slid in from Southern States. No scratches at all.
Line-x here. 5 years and it's faded just a little bit. Mine would be perfect if the place that originally sprayed it hadn't jacked it up. They sprayed it to thin the first time so when I took it back they just threw another thin layer down on the bottom and then coated the bed rails thicker to trick me. Now the second layer that they sprayed is peeling so this time they are going to strip it completely down to bare metal and then respray the whole dang thing. Speaking of which, that reminds me that I need to get a hold of the rep. Thanks for posting this thread.
