Barry Bonds home runs legite or not?

Let's hear everyones thoughts on wether or not Bonds deserves to hold a record or even get the fan fair for reaching 2nd all-time home runs. I know the jury is still out on the whole steriod issue but it sounds like he does or did use them and to me that makes his feat a little tainted. Just my opinion so let's hear yours.

Baseball management has turned a deaf ear on this subject long enough to get the fans back in the park and im sure they were hoping it would go away.
I dont believe Bonds would swear on a Bible that he hasnt knowingly used steriods. Im as sure about him as I am about OJ. I think a footnote at the bottom of page should mention his known steriod use (he admitted using a steriod cream) and suspected use.. I also believe aarons record should have a footnote that he batted almost 4000 more times than ruth. Anyway, nothing will happen to him, the fans are too forgiving (as w/Michael Jackson)and always want to ride a winning horse.

What do we expect?

As Americans we all push for bigger, better, faster, harder, etc, etc. Then, we GET it and complain. The whole congressional hearing thing is an absolute JOKE, my distaste for our Federal Govt. grew even more after that show.

Look at some NBA footage on ESPN Classic from the 70's? Is it me or were all those guys like 6'7" 190 lbs.?, Look at them now! Most of those guys are 225+ with 15% body fat. What changed, I wonder? Runners, Fighters, Bodybuilders, Baseball, FOOTBALL (come on, those freaks are HUGE!), no matter hat sport you are talking about, performace inhancing is going on, period.

How about Mcgwire and Sosa with the Homerun battle in the late 90s (or was it 2000)?
Mcgwire had 17" FOREARMS?????!!! 1/2" bigger than my Bi's! Get real. Only difference between him and Barry is that Barry is still trying to play.

Facts is that there are no, I repeat NO (zero, zilch, nada) long term studies that link disease with healthy, adult males who responsibly use anabolics.

Prove me wrong.

Wow, sorry about the rant. I just feel like this one of those things that peole get all fired up about, going on what they heard, or were told over the years.

Bottom line, they count. Baseball has had mutiple changes over the years. They raised and lowered the mound, changed the ball to the point that one year the leading homerun hitter had a whopping 11.
Maybe there should be a footnote on the stats, but it should read.
"Due to the Union and Management caring more about the almighty dollar than the health and safety of the player or the integrity of the sport, any and or all the information contained here should not be relied upon without verification.

Regardless of the fact if he used Roids or didn't, It doens't matter. It still takes an eye to hit a ball. The fact that teams schedule their game around the guy says something. Do I think that the use of steroids should be banned, Yes. I'll admit if I could find a way to out perform the opponent then I'm going to do it. It's like when Jimmy Johnson crew chief got suspended at Daytona. He got caught and payed the price. As for Bonds, he didn't get caught. But regardless of the fact the baseball still went over the wall. You can't argue that. I guess that's how I feel about that.

I guess the way I see it is that if you have natural talent then you should use it. If you have to use a forieng substance just to make you better than someone that has more god given talent then where is the sportsmanship in that. Not to mention the fact that kids look up to these guys andthis is what we are teaching them. I do agree that the ball went over the fence but would it have as many times were he not hopped up on riods? I would have guess that maybe not as many times or he would not have been on them.

I look at the same way as when the NHRA ProStock Guys were running Nitrous on the sly, cheatin' is cheatin.
But then I really don't follow any "Pro" sports.
Something about a bunch of guys making a 5 Million dollar bonus for signing a contract that will pay them 2 million a year, whining about needing to renegotiate their contract because they're not being paid enough while ticket prices are out of reach of the common working stiff just rubs me the wrong way.

I don't agree with using steroids to break records. I also dont agree that pro ball players should have to fork over medical records either.

Am I a fan...yes. Do I think he juiced...yes. I feel he is so good he would still have a ton of homers even if he wasn't on something. His swing is unmatched and he is one of the best players ever! Lets face it..baseball is boring and needs the homers but players juicing should not be the answer.

Anyone remember the SNL skit with Dana Carvey and Kevin Nealon about the "All Drug Olympics"?

Good one, the idea is that there is a spereate Olympics that allows any and all drugs.

They still play pro baseball? I don't care if Bonds hiys 1,000 home runs he'll never take away Hank Aaron's record in my book. I have not listened to, think about, or care about MLB since the strike.

Like Shovel said; Bunch of whinning millionairs.

College sports is the only thing I care about.

GO HUSKERS!

P.J., you say the jucied up home runs count? Then why not just point the pitching machine over the fence and call them home runs too. Why even use a bat? One more example of cheating working it's way into our society and people accepting it.

"Hammerin Hank" Aaron is still alive by the way, and in good health. But who would care about a black guy who quietly broke Babe Ruth's home run record fair & square, and in the 50's & 60's when racisim kept him from even riding the same bus as the other players. Who cares, about a man who percivered through the toughest times, when he could not even eat with the other players in some states, and had to use the back entrance just to get in the ball park to play. Who cares.
