The Bad; I have been diagnosed with skin cancer and currently under treatment. The treatment is making me sicker than the cancer did. The worse; I had to put down my old orange rescue tabby Morris. He had a large tumer growing in his mouth and he stopped eating due to the pain. Nothing the vet could do for him, so we had to make the hard decision and stopped his suffering. The good; One of our colony cats decided to become friendly before all this happened. The day after Morris's death, she decided to move in. A little cautious at first, staying near the, but little by little started exploring the house. Now she is next to me on my bead snoozing away. They say life abhors a vacuum; our new member seems to prove that theory. She is a Siberian Forest cat we call Tordy.
Thanks guys. Had I known old age would have sucked this bad, I would have taken better care of myself. Maybe not. My new kitty is a help, very stress releasing. I'm on the downhill side of the treatment and the most painful. Kind of disturbing seeing your skin fall off. Not through the woods yet, I'm sure there are other spots that will have to be treated.
I'm done with the Chemotherapy for now. The top of my head looks like raw hamburger and feels like it. Stray kitty has moved in completely. Now that it has turned cold, she doesn't want to go outside, just sleeps on my bed. Planning ahead for an early winter. Getting my winterized diesel mixed and ready to go. Moved the winter tires upfront in the shed. Hard wired the wireless remote receiver to the snowplow control box. Hopefully, this time it will not fail. I left the wired control socket in just in case the remote fails. Everything is yellow and falling off the trees and the fireweed has long sense seed out. Some big storms have been passing through with more to come causing flood warnings and watches. And further north they are already getting snow
Feeling a turn in the days down here, too. Alder leaves yellowing and falling, usually the first to go. My father has the same issue with his face and scalp. Stays indoors out of sunlight for a few days after his treatments but gets caught up on his reading and WW2 studies...
Prepping for cooler weather and winter snow is getting to be second nature anymore, will start winterizing the boat this week and getting the brakes done on the old 24v. Hoping you're feeling better.
Thanks Kurt. With the strong storms comes wind and rain, a lot of both and snow in the high peaks around me. Another big one is brewing in the Bering Sea with gale force winds will hit by the weekend. The wind has stripped the dead leaves off the trees and now we have a toothpick forest. We had our first frost a couple days ago. As nights get longer, they get colder, in the mid 30°'s now with daytime highs around 50°. Thinking about what to do this winter for a project. Something electronics related, or do some gunsmithing project I've neglected.
Just about here. Cold and rain the last few days left us some white stuff on the lower hills. At least the wind is gone for now. What use to be an outdoor cat won't go out anymore. She found the heater under my desk.
The heater under the desk is a good trick. I use that one myself. Helps on those cold mornings before the wood stove catches up after a long, cold night.
No snow here yet, but we had 3 hard frosty mights in s row last week. The leaves are mostly down and most people veggie gardens are done.

Coug.
Sorry about Orange Cat.
More sorry about your health predicament.
FWIW, I realize you are already in the chemo stage, but two things I would like you to contemplate:
Cancer cannot survive in a sugar free environment, nor can it survive in a body that remains alkaline. Might want to research these a bit, or not. Just throwing it out there.

The new meow festival attendee looks like an awesome pawsome.
Glad you have a new friend to keep you company. The joy they bring far exceeds any pain.
That is unless of course, you adopt a mentally damaged dog like this Male Shih Tzu we got nearly 2 years ago. He has bitten my wife so many times, and me a few, that the pain might not exceed the joy. He just bit her again, about 2 hours ago, and for no **** reason, other than she did something he didn't like. Again, being abused for 6+ years before we got him didn't make him a peach.
Thanks guys. NJT, I understand mentally damaged. Mr Moris, the orange cat was such. When we rescued him, he was under a death sentence for being a "dangerous" animal. His adoption came with a lot of restrictions. We gave him that last chance and he was a challenge. Never thought an animal could have PDST, but he did. The cancer is one of those slow growing ones. It started probably 25 years or so ago when I lived in Arizona. I'm diabetic so sugar has to be controlled. On my current diet I keep it under control without the drugs which created their own problem. As for the pooch, don't take their crap, like they do with sled dogs up here, bite them back. It freaks them out.
Kurt, this has been a summer without sunshine for us. Only a very few days the sunshine. The rest of the time it rained 3 out of 4 days a week. With the weather patterns we have been having, this winter will be interesting.
I smell bacon, breakfast must be almost ready. Later.

Yeah, life treats them bad, and they reflect it
I can control Mr. B. He has figured out I dont take crap from him, albeit he does still make a ruckus when he,isnt happy. Ive developed speed, and control techniques which prevent me from getting bit. Wife? Not so much.
Best regards with your battle
Maybe you'll enjoy this. My buttocks are still clenched, and I only watched it from my kitchen
