Atlas Pinnacle roofing?

Anyone hear anything bad about this company's roofing shingles? I've got a couple of roofers telling me it's crap and I need to replace the roof. My insurance company adjuster (USAA) says the roof's got about 8 more years in it. Some blistering, but nothing out of the ordinary for a 12 year old roof in the DFW area. 1 shingle that needs to be replaced, one that should be replaced. And he said it's Atlas Pinnacle, just like the roofers who have bid on the job.

Trying to sell the house and the inspector says roof is hail damaged. Roofing guys says, no, it's Atlas shingles; they're defective and you need to replace it (that'll be $4500, thank you very much) and my insurance company saying the roof is fine. Now, the insurance adjuster could tell me it needs to be replaced because Atlas shingles are crap and be done with it (no coverage for that) but he's not. And my deductable is pretty high and USAA's a pretty good company.

So now I have these 3 different opinions and, of course, the buyer is going to be saying, "I want a new roof" or I'm going to retract or lower my bid (they paid a fee to be able to do that). I've done a couple of different searches and, in this day and age, you'd think that if there's a widespread problem with a product you'd see something on the net, but all I've found are positive things about Atlas.

So... anyone with experience with these guys?

IMHO, the roofing guy is trying to sell you a new roof you may not need. Just patch it and be done with it.

I hear that you can get roof insurance for the buyer - i.e. you tell him that the roof is guaranteed for X years and you go buy a low-buck policy on the roof to cover it for that length of time. He gets a guaranteed roof and you get the sale and spend less than replacing it. Might be something to look into.

Yeah, that would solve this entire mess. Anyone know about this? I'm googling it now, but not really coming up with anything. What companies offer this??

Your realtor ought to be able to set you up or tell you who to call.
