Arrowhead digging and sifting. Anybody?

Anybody like the artifacts? I love finding good perfect ones, when I'm not working I move around to diffrent dig sites and camps. I'm tired of the stationary table sifters we use when we go digging. I've been trying to get some ideas on building a motorized gas powered sifter that does the work for you. Any body have any ideas or suggestions.

Have you thought about getting the DIY build plans for a dry sifting box used for gold panning and just modify it for your needs?

There are tons of these build plans online .... the only reason why I know is because I'm looking into a gold mining claim on the Klamath River.

BE careful of the type of land you are hunting on. If you get caught on govt. land its a federal crime. You are not allowed to disturb or remove artifacts. I belong to a gold prospecting and metal detecting club and we need to be carful where we do our thing. You can prospect for minerals on federal lands, but even touching an artifact could land you in big trouble. You will want to check your state laws if on state land.

Check out trommels or dry washers used for gold prospecting. They can process dry dirt. Once you understand how they work you may be able to build your own. All you have to do is feed material, the machine will seperate either by size or weight. The trommel will seperate by size, and the dry washer by weight.

Take an orbital sander or two and connect it to a 2x4 framed shake box and let er rip. Cheap, easy, effective.
