In the Marine Corps, I was officially a Comm Center Operator, but since they stationed me at a Tank Battalion ??? I was actually more of a Wireman. I can't even count how many miles of that telephone wire I ran out of the back of a Jeep or HMMWV...

I traveled to strange and exotic places to meet new and unusual people, to kill them, but only on weekends.

I love it, I was a 13F in the good ole 1/319th AFA 82nd Airborne Division. I hate the new "army of one" slogan. In a pinch one is the last thing you would want to be when the chips are down.

Lotta good guys in Fire Support. I think that M.O.S. weeds out a lot of rif-raf. Sounds like you enjoyed the job too.

Hey Red,
The old hammerhead is gone. It's been replaced with a heavy hummer variant called the M707 Striker. The Striker name has changed to something else because the Army has another Stryker which is a spiffied up LAV, like the Marines use.
The M707 takes all the FIST stuff from the Bradley FIST vehicle and "stuffs" it in a hummer. I've got three of them I have to work on. Now if I can just keep those "redleg pukes" away from low hanging limbs. If you wan some pics, e-mail me at either shortrnd@swbell.net or PM me for my other addy.
