Anyone have a Mac?

Once you're used to it, you'll wonder why you waited so long. Give it a day or two to get used to the differences between the Mac and whatever you use for work, and you'll be skating along fine.
It will do anything that a pc will do, you just have to educate yourself about how to make it walk and talk.
I can't imagine that you could ever regret it- I'm on my third now!

Don't count on that. At a K-12 school district, we have about 7,000 of them. You will get errors eventually. Just using it as a home computer, you might not see much.

Untrue again. There are several Mac virus out there. Again, as a home user you won't see much of them. You'll see more of this around a University setting. There are virtually no virus threats for a Mac - and I go to the nastiest places on the net - never seen one, and the ones that are sent only affect Windows users.
And for error messages - how frequently does the dock crash? Never?

Asking if a Mac is better than Windows computers is like asking if a Lexus is better than trucks in general. Here's why:
The Mac OS is designed to run only on hardware from it's own company. This means there is less diversity in the product lines, and less functionality.
Windows is designed to run on any Windows compatible hardware. There are many hardware suppliers out there, and because of competition, the prices are lower. Because Windows is not built on a single hardware platform it controls, it inherently has more problems with compatibility, but has the benefit of increased functionality.
The answer to your question then, is what is important to you? A Mac is more appropriate for people that are less "computer savvy". This is because having less control over the computer means less chance of the user introducing problems. The interface is streamlined so that basic functions are intuitive to use.
A Windows PC is appropriate for people on a budget, with an intermediate level of technical understanding. Also for people wanting the most feature rich and expandable platform.
Linux is an operating system designed for people with a high level of technical ability. It imposes the least restrictions on the user. Also, free is a hard price to beat.
So, do you want to hop in your expensive but comfortable Lexus and commute, or do you want a truck, which may give you problems, but has the option of doing more than just commuting?

I think that I am an intelligent enough user that I can handle a Mac. I'm so tired of Windows computers, really. It gets old, half the time things don't work, or they work but suddenly stop working. And I do a pretty good job of keeping my computers clean. Like I said, this is not just me. Every single computer that I've ever dealt with his been like this, friends, family too. They just act like they are confused half the time.

Never had problems with my old 2E but had major problems (two times back to apple) with our Mac. My mother now has it (she just plays card games). We went back to PC's (love gaming) and yes, I have had a few problems but never anything like the bad trip we had with our Mac.

Always love these Mac vs PC debates. Back to his original question:Guess it boils down to luck and your pocket book. I had terrible problems with our last Mac. Others have not. I have not had major problems with PC's. Others have. When I go to upgrade again it will just be a matter of who has the best deals.
