i got an ipod for christmas and i want to be able to hook it up to my radio for my long drive out to georgia in a few days. my ex bought an adapter a while back that you had it on a certain station on your radio and the ipod was supposed to work, but it was crappy it didnt work....could have been my ex was stupid and didnt know how to make it work(GREAT chance of that
) do i need to get it professionally done, can i but an adapter from like best buy or something, not sure really what to do, but i wanna get it done before i leave, or i will go insane, since i hate flipping through radio stations
i will have my lap top to keep me company though. wherever my cell gets service my laptop will get internet, so dont worry guys i wont be gone THAT long

Is your head unit from the factory or did you install a aftermarket one?
Alot of the aftermarket HU have a jack that you can plug the IPOD into. On some HU the jacks are on the backside of the faceplate so you might have to remove it and plug it in.

i have the factory head unit. i heard that i could get something to put like on the base of my antenna or something like that, but not totally sure. i also heard that my best bet is for an aftermarket head unit, but i dont want to put an aftermarket head unit in. i just want something simple quick and that will make it work and wont be all static. cause 15hrs is gonna be long without good music
I don't know about that antenna deal. I personally use this.

It works great. Clear, clean music. Just make sure you have the channels matched up.

the radio tuner for the ipod only works on dead stations, so you tune the radio to say 105 which is static and set the ipod radio tuner to the same, but if that station happens be a station in a place your driving thru then you have to change it
this is what i have been told. was going to get one but i have the cassette adapter

I have one of the fm transmitters in my truck. you kinda have to dance around until you find a clear channel as it has very little power to override a station.
You can check apples website to see if they have an adapter for dodge's factory radio. some have it some dont.
Outside of that, you will have to replace the head unit with one that has an aux input.

I don't have an ipod but a walkman cd and it has the cassette adapter. When we came back from upstate ny one year the kids were coming unglued so we stopped in at smilemart and got a dvd player and a few movies. Out in the truck got it hooked up and thought, "I wonder if that cassette thing will channel the movie through the truck speakers". Plugged it into the headphone port and bingo, kids had scooby doo in stereo, me, I got to listen to scooby doo and teen titans for the rest of the trip.
i have had every kind of ipod gadget for tuning in your car and the only one worth getting is one that plugs into the aftermarket cd players plus you can run them off your new remote so you wont have to even deal with your i pod. very easy to install and you can get cd players with ipod capability for around 100 bucks it doesnt need to be the best unit just one with the ipod adapter feature.dont buy anything else they are all junk!!!
Which raido do you have I take it it is not the one with the aux port in the front. Check the dealer I know some of the ones that have the factory sat raido can use the factory the ipod adapter. Maybe a trip to the dealer is in order.
You might try some of the XM radio adapters. there are some that look like they have RCA plug inputs or head phone inputs.
They are pricey tho, about the cost of just buying the proper head unit.

The unit you have is an FM transmitter. It actually broadcasts an FM signal, to be picked up by your stock antenna; just like any other FM radio station. Because of FCC regulations the transmitter is very weak, and you get crummy sound.
Most stock head units have no provision for plugging in an outside source. The casette adapters work fairly well. Your best option is to tap into the actual wired factory antenna line. It's a fairly simple operation, actually plug and play.
You can buy the adapters at a lot of places. Check out the Crutchfield web site for some ideas. Go to a store like Car Toys, they have these adapters sitting on the shelf.

It's not expensive to get a stereo with an auxiliary input, and there are several that will actually control your Ipod through the head unit. Like .boB said, look at Crutchfield's site. Here's an example of what I'm talking about: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_105KDPD...0.html?tp=5684
Everything I drive has a stereo with at least an auxiliary input, and the stereo I put in the Benz has a USB port. I really like that, I can just put some MP3's on a flash drive and play them without monkeying with a separate MP3 player. As the other stereos die they will be replaced with USB compatible units.
