'Anyone' Can See Economy's Improving, DNC Chair Insists

Gee, I must be such a stupid dummy to think otherwise. What did I miss and go so wrong?
They truly do walk among us.

DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz insisted to CNSNews.com yesterday that “anyone’ can see that the economy is improving and sought to interpret what Pres. Obama really meant when he admitted Monday that Americans were not better off today than four years ago.

“Well, what President Obama said was that certainly since the collapse of Lehman Brothers, that Americans are not better off,” Wasserman Schultz told CNSNews.com. “That was specifically the president’s comment. I thought. And I think anyone who looks at the economy knows we have come a long way.

“We are certainly no longer dropping like a rock like we were in the months leading up to President Obama taking office,” Wasserman Schultz continued. “And now we’ve begun to turn the corner.”

“Anyone” can see that we’ve turned the corner? Really?

Even the 115,730 people who lost their jobs last month (the most in more than two years), or the American Airlines workers faced with the danger that their employer is going to have to file for bankruptcy?

And, how about the person at the pump fretting over the cost of filling his gas tank, or the young couple trying to sell their home?

I guess these aren’t the “anyones” the DNC chair was referring to.

The sad thing is, where SHE is, the Economy is improving. Outside of Washington though, still in a free fall.

Guess we don't count.

we are turning a corner alright. turning the corner of obama's planned path of destruction. I am one of those that are trying to sell a house. It will go on the market end of March but if the comps don't come out to be what I need (just asking to walk away with zero owed and I am not one of those who went out and borrowed a crap load of money against my house when the market was booming). I do however have a good friend and his chick want to rent my place which might have to happen and I just pay the difference from the rent pmt vs mtg pmt.

what that liberal chick needs to see is that the FED made $16.1 TRILLION! YES TRILLION on wall street loans last year alone. hmm maybe kick bernicke's **** and pay off the national debt or is that where it all went?

liberalism is a disease and some Pb medication will be administered here quick across the nation if something is not done about it before its too late.

Depends where you are, I know companies around where I'm at are seeing things come back, compared to how things were two years ago. As an engineer that is graduating in may, there is a surprising number of companies look for engineers for new projects that they are starting. I don't think its all Doom and gloom like some would like you to believe .

Actually it is worse than most people realize....there are indeed areas that are getting a boost but for every new job gained more are lost....

Obviously there are companies looking to hire new graduate Engineers... that allows them to drop a more experienced and higher paid one from their payroll.....Their are a lot of highly experienced Engineers also looking for work

Unless we bring manufacturing back to this country and stop buying all this Chinese junk, we will NEVER stop the downhill slide we are in. We are fighting an uphill battle because the American companies are forced to downsize and incorporate machinery to do the jobs of people in order to survive.

The problem is they are NOT surviving in this manner, all they are doing is slowing their fall into bankruptcy and putting everybody out of work. We have to fix the problem at the core and fix America's Economy and quit worrying about everybody else. Look at how upset China is right now because Congress is looking to lower the trade deficit by forcing China to raise the valuation of their currency.

China is NOT our friend, they are strictly in it for the money and the scenario to me somewhat mimics the actions that lead to war against the Japanese. They want our money and need to sell us the junk to survive and they have been doing so with ridiculously unfair trade advantages that cause US to lose in the end.

Make China a FAIR and BALANCED Trade partner and they would NEVER accept such a deal...they have gotten used to ripping us off for so long they feel they are entitled to do so. I could go on for hours but what is the use? unless we make some changes soon we may as well just turn out the lights.

for a while things started picking up like in the last 5 months but the brakes are back on talked to my friend who has 12 employees and said there now down to 3-4 days a week and as of now has 1 small (1day job) for 5 of them. I have seen work slow down too . I have started to split my house and rent half of it out to try and keep from loosing it.
the last few years are taking a toll on everyone ...self included. most everyone I know are one step from loosing EVERYTHING!

.
This is happening everywhere. Not just for Engineers. Happened to my wife
who is a dental assistent. It took her 10 months to get a new job at one heck of a pay cut. It has happened to many Dental Hygenist (spelling???) They don't fire them, they cut there hours back where they have to try to find something else. They do this because they don't want to pay unemployement benefits. Employers are very dirty out there. Not many people can do what I do, but that doesn't mean I won't be out the door tomorrow. Especially if AT&T buys T-Mobile USA, who I work for. I guarantee, the axe will come out if that happens to many a folk. I was an Sr. RF Engineer for SunCom and made it through the T-Mobile USA deal. I may not be so lucky this time. I may make too much... I have been thinking about becoming a homeless person anyway. I am darn tired of the rat race. They don't hire new people these days, they just expect you to do more and more.

So true....it applies to just about every level white and blue collar. I see this action as only speeding up a company's demise. They get rid of employees in an attempt to stay in the black but when combined in the end they just end up putting their customers out of work!

We have to create jobs and keep people working or there will be no one to buy anything......seems simple to me, but corporate greed is about what can I make THIS year not in the next 20 years.

Sam Walton saw it at Walmart and vowed to sell ONLY the best quality USA made products he could find and only then sell foreign products that could not be found here. As soon as he died the Corporate Monkeys took over and turned it around just trying to sell the cheapest crap they could find from China and elsewhere...

Save a penny to lose a dollar...that is what it amounts to in the end.

Yea, its never ending about them giving us more and more work for the same pay. All the while they are looking at the younger, cheaper guys to do the same work. What they don't realize is that when they get rid of us, there goes the experience!!! But to the upper manglement, er I mean management, that does not seem to count for much now.

One thing I have noticed is, more and more motorbike and sled companies are making their stuff in the US. One example is BOSS seats for snowmobiles, starting this fall, they are now making all their seats in the states due to quality control issues in China. The extra cost? $65.00 per seat. No big deal, I'll pay extra to keep the North American jobs here. I am now just anxiously waiting for my seat to come!!!
