Help with 2009 Chrysler Sebring

Here's the deal. The wife has the above car, with the 2.7 engine. After warming up, stopped at a light, idling in gear, the low oil psi light flickers. I've read on other forums, that the sensor leaks, and the engine oil gums up. Here is my question to the guys who work for/at dealerships. Is there a TSB or recall on this issue? Can the pan be pulled, without pulling the motor? What's your recommendations? My plan is to install, at least temporarily, a mechanical oil psi gauge, but would like to fix the problem. What sucks is, she is JUST out of warranty, as is usually the case. Thanks in advance.

There's a link on the left side of this page for recalls, just enter your VIN.

dont let all the internet garbage on the 2.7 scare you ,most of that was from early engines.we have a 2006 sebring convertible with 100,000 miles never 1 issue but a window rattle and we have 2 friends with the same car 1 with 180k. never 1 issue and 1 with 250k and its had water pump timing chain and belts hoses. we love our little car!
one thing though the 2.7 is prone to sludg so I use mobil 1 5-20 and change it EVERY 4000 miles

Can the oil pan be dropped, without pulling the motor? I've been running the valvoline 5w-20 synthetic blend, since we bought it in Feb. this year.

Pan can come off pretty easy, but to change the pump the motor must come apart. You can try to shim the relief spring. I have heard of good luck from that.

Thanks Speedy. My intentions are to pull the pan and pick-up tube, clean and inspect both, then re-assemble. That is, providing there is nothing out-standing from Chrysler, which I doubt. Hopefully, that will solve the problem.

Thanks Rebel. After extensive reading, and the fact that all my tools are buried in the storage unit, I'm taking it to the dealer. $190 for parts and labor, if it's the sensor. Additional $50, if the pan has gunk in it. Since it is 'just' out of warranty, by 1,500 miles, they are gonna see if they can get Chrysler to help with the cost.

Here's the story. After some research, found out the oil psi sensor is a common problem. Due to the location of the sensor, the fact that ALL of my tools are buried in a storage unit, and the dealer said $200, I took it to them. After paying $207, I left the dealership. 10 miles down the road, I took it back for the same oil light. Now, fast forward 2 weeks. The oil pump is shot, taking out the mains. Chrysler approved a short block, costing me, $2k. Fast forward another week (today), the heads are toast, due to the lack of oil. Fortunately, the dealer got Chrysler to cover the heads. So we SHOULD have the car back next week, provided nothing else is wrong. What bothers me the most is, we got the car at 26k miles. I did the oil changes at the 'computers' intervals. At 38k miles, the motor issues arose. When we get it back, screw the computer, it's going on a regular maintenance cycle.
