Anybody running Linux?

I just started playing with it. My company issued laptop has WinXP and it works OK but I had a couple old PC's around and decided to try and load it on. I am writing this post on it.

Specs:
Gateway 2500 laptop (originally came with W95)
PII 233 MHz 288 MB Ram
10 GB Hard Drive

Linux Distribution: DSL Darn Small Linux
It's a pretty cool little package that is only 50MB in size. It has a "windows" like environment and includes a couple web browsers and an Email client.

You can download it for free and then burn it to CD. It will boot right off of the CD!
It runs really efficient and almost as fast as the P4 1.6 Gig XP machine.

I am not affiliated in any way with them, just a happy user!

Started playing around with Slackware in 1995.... got a couple hundred servers running Debian and Redhat. Never made the desktop transition. I run Win2k server as a desktop and it is rock solid. If something crashes it's usually the apps fault (Firefox or Acrobat reader).

I run Linux for development. Mainly PXE booting for downloading software images.

I have a total of 5 computers. Three run Mac OS-X, one with Windows XP, and one that has SuSE Linux. The Macs are my and my wife's primary computers - one is an old Ti PowerBook. The Windows box is used for my business, since the corporate office insists that I use ACT!, and the Linux box runs my web sites (not the business site, but one that I built for my high school alma mater, and one for my homebrew beer blog).

At the moment at home.... 3 Desktops running Gentoo, 1 Laptop Gentoo, 1 NAS (Gentoo) well the microwave oven and the toilet is still hardwired so there's no need for an OS.

AlpineRAM

(I'm glad there's Windows, keeps me busy and employed)
