Anybody familiar with Gym-Shipping?
A buddy is looking to buy a 99 Jeep from London, Eng. The person selling uses Gym-Shipping. You're supposed to send Gym-Shipping the money, they deliver the vehicle, and you have 10 days to inspect it before they pay the seller. I'm a little leary because the Jeep is dirt cheap and only has 8,500 miles on it. I don't want to see my buddy get ripped off. Anybody know anything about this outfit?
The only reference I can find for Gym-Shipping is related to something in the Pokeman relm.
I'd be finding out a WHOLE bunch more about this outfit before I sent them a check.
This would not pass my "Sniff" test, especially when they want the money up front.
If you don't like it, what?.....are they shipping it back to England on THEIR dime?
I could be wrong.....

Hmmmm.....I wonder why that didn't pop up in my Google search?
How much are the shipping charges?
When I used the weight calculator on their page, a 3500lb car would cost $99,576.97 USD to ship

Maybe some of your numbers are off. I checked out a 3500 lb. car. Convert it to 1600 kilograms and was quoted 199,2 GBP. That converts to 3951.73 usd. Asking for the shipping money up front is not uncommon ship with FedEx or UPS and they want money up front. As far as that goes all shippers want money up first.

Hmmm .... not sure about shipping it without seeing it first. Another thing I would be cautious about would be the specifications of the vehicle ... european or US specs ? I know that to convert a german spec vehicle (windshield, exhaust etc ...) it would have cost more than most used vehicles were worth. That was what halted me bringing my little BMW station wagon back with me.

I just saw this quote, I think on this BB.
"There are 3 kinds of men: those who learn by reading, a few learn by observaton, the rest of them have to pee on the elec. fence to find out for themselves."
Maybe you have to turn the voltage up for your friend to get the message!
