any good farm equipment forums out there?
Oh, and on the combine video.... That more than anything is the Operator, and how worn out the header/machine is. That J/D didnt have his reel spinning very fast compared to the NH. Plus once they start getting worn out they dont feed quite as well
Oh, and do you know how bad it sucks to have to grease 6 combines every morning all the way around?? Yeah, it takes a while
Eric

I took that video , the NH had more hours and acres on it than the deere did, he just couldn't feed enough material through that little feeder house to keep up, I couldn't go any faster in the NH because the header wouldn't cut it off fast enough...
The best thing about JD is that it is still John Deere after all these years. No other tractor company can say that. You can go to a Deere dealer and look up tons of old parts yet. Try that with the others. Not slamming AGCO. I guess my White is one now. But it sure is hard to keep score on who owns who and who bought out who last.
Just playin'
It will get easier in the future...AGCO's not gonna buy anyone else out unless it's a flat STEAL!!! They need to get everything else straightened out first...and they are making some changes!
If anyone ever has a question on who owns who, and what's going on in the farm machinery business, give me a shout. I've had to keep up to keep on top, so I'd be glad to clear up any questions!
John Deere makes the best stuff out there IMO.
My Great uncle has a 2940 with about 12k hours on it, and runs a dairy. Its never even been rebuilt. We have never had a major problem out of any of our JD's. You can say that the green paint brings more than the rest, but has anyone priced new tractors lately(besides u Chris )? They arent cheap no matter what the brand. Also, the old fergusons arent much on hydraulics or brakes, but they are a heck of a good tractor. Those old perkins are hard to beat. 135's, 150's, 165's, 175's are all good tractors. Agco almost has a monopoly on the business now though. Heck they even make tractors labled cat

The Deere's will run between 9-10K hours, and the drive shaft between the engine and tranny will go out...cost's about 10K to fix, and you're lucky of it holds for 1K more hours! Steel frames and driveshafts aren't good...steel flexes
On the Massey's, those are OLD!!! Another thing MF has done to keep newer tractors affordable is cheapen stuff like hydraulic pumps and stuff like that on the newer 400-500 series...they learned their lesson! Warranty work ahs been tremendous on these tractors...but AGCO is standing behind them. 3 year warranty on any new or used MF 400 series tractor, after it has all the updates that it needs. BUT, it's still the highest selling tactor line in the world, so it's wasn't a failure!
No company is without problems or downfalls...One thing AGCO has to do is take care of customers on a corporate level...can you say that about CNH, or Deere! Those guys think that they can't be beat...let me tell you a secret that most a learning, don't try and go up against a new AGCO product, or you might be embarrassed! That's the easiest way to sell AGCO tractors right now...tell the customer to go drive a Deere IVT or Case powershift, and come see me! Or even better, put them in the field...I'll blow them away on comfort, power, fuel economy, and funtion

Sorry
Guess I get going and can't stop!Buy from a dealer who takes care of you...that's the most important, and it's why we're still in business

At least now we've got the product to make our job easier!Chris
gotta agree on the dealership who cares. i use jd 830 three cylinder, 2040 three cylinder,2840 six banger , overhauling a 300b loadertractor, 2240 is my brothers. the 2040 was bought new. other than getting hosed at the local dealer i wouldn't trade any of them for any IH, massey, or new jd stuff. newer stuff is just built cheap. thinking of selling the 2840 and buying a good old 4020. had the 2840 for fifteen years. don't know what i would buy if i was a big farmer.love my agco inline hesston balers . two of them one small dimension other large dimension two string love the way they work could be built heavier. couple of pics of my wife baling some oat/timothy hay this spring should have raked a couple more windrows together.
i have had my old baler break the truss on the bale chamber. my newer one broke in the same place. i know once in a while baling alfalfa you bale a brick just hard to guess where a wet spot might be. also had some cracking on the bale restrictor doors with out setting them in much. like to see 36 inch long grass bales at 70lbs to keep them tough enough to send up the stacker. my brother has used nh 570 balers for years where he has worked and they do make a heavier bale with out problems .i just don't care for nh baler.
I have seen the doors crack...but not very often! Never seen the other problems you've had, but you probably put a few more bales on than we do around here.
I have a couple balers with 500K+ bales, but most are under 250K!

the one in the photo doesn't even have the paint wore off and has given me no problems . i only do 175 ton a year at my home place. my brother and i do another 200ton plus. 4650 that i had bought really used alot + i did some custom with it had most the problems. i replaced it with a 4655 that was very nice. just had the truss crack on the bale chamber after we used it.
4650's are old...I've only sold 3 of the 4655's
We do about 1-4570, and 4-5-4590's a year, plus a big square or two and a few round balers. Not as many balers out here as you guys have!

The New Holland 575 is "THE STANDARD" in the small square baler market, every other machine is measured against it.
Admittedly the nline machines are a different animal. There is a ver large export timmothy market in this area and the majoriy of producers use 575 NH Balers.

P.S I love watchng that "Bumble Bee" walk past that Deere......
Good Stuff.
The second video you need is coming back three weeks later and see the "Green Trail" of shelled out grain behind that Deere.......

Nobody Knows Hay like Hesston!Around here, we sell more 4590's than the NH dealers sell 575's...even some of the NH dealers sell Hesston's. The only guys that don't like the 4590 is the guy who likes the "pretty" side of the bale. Hesston's cut side is on the bottom of the bale where you can't see it on a truck!
But like I said before...it all depends on what good dealers are in the area

I have a JD that I bought 13 years ago thats never let me down. Last fall a neighbor offered me $4000.00 more for it than when I bought it used 13 years ago. I did not wan't to sell it for sentimental reasons etc.
I have a couple of other old IH tractors. They are bulletproof also. That was the problem back then, they made such a good product that nobody needed to buy another tractor for a long time. sales suffered.
Another neighbor of mine bought a new MF 4wd tractor 2 years ago that has more hours in the shop than in the field.

i love not having to move a bale. my good timothey field here in the valley will run 5ton on the one cutting we get so i use a 7ft old jd mow conditioner (1207) dad bought it new in the late 70's and it is still a hay eating rig. i have and old 1112 new holland swather on our central ore farm she was cheap to buy and just had a complete new header put on before i bought it. i do dislike the five foot rollers. hay is sold out in this corner of the world i wish i had some i sold last summer. 150 then. 200++ now. have not had a bale in the barn since nov first and still getting calls weekly.
