Any excel / access gurus here?

This is probably simple for you guys, but would any of you know of any way where, if I place a numeric code in one column (that has a set $ charge established for that code) the $ value would automatically be drawn in to another column?

Yes, but are you doing it in access or excel? Either way you will have to create a list with the numeric codes and their corresponding $$ amounts. In access, you would have a table with the codes and amounts. Then you would query them when you needed it.

In excel you can use the VLOOKUP function but you will have to have all of your numeric codes and their corresponding values in an array somewhere in your workbook. It's really simple to setup.

This is the simplest way I know of, also. VLOOKUP (stands for vertical lookup) is pretty simple and it does just what you need. Another similar function is HLOOKUP.

Vlookup is good stuff. It has saved me a lot of time. Depending on what you are actually doing will determine which program will be best for you to use.
