Another Use For Spray In Bed Liner

As I passed a truck this weekend something about the paint caught my eye and I slowed down for a second look and realized the entire truck had been sprayed with bed liner material. It was an interesting look and I am sure would offer a lot of protection from parking lot dings and rock chips. Has anyone on this site painted their entire truck with spary in bed liner material? Anyone have a guess what it would it cost to have that done?

I'm not sure what it would cost, but I bet it would add a lot of wieght to the truck, and probably quite the road noise down a bit. I have seen a Jeep covered like this, and you right from a distance something looks odd, but hard to tell what it is until you see it close up.

I have seen an early 50's Chevy panel truck (Suburban) that was covered in all vinyl. You really couldn't tell either until you were right at it. It was two tone silver and black. The guy owned an upholstery shop and did it just like a vinyl top on a car.

I saw a Toyota pickup sprayed with bedliner. It belonged to the owner of the place. He said it was about a $1500 job. The truck surface had been in pretty bad shape with lots of dings and rust holes. It looked strange but OK. It sure wouldn't be subject to scratches anymore. It probably weighs 300 or 400 lbs more. The body oughta last a lot longer.

wouldent have to worry about washing it, the texture would hold all the dirt I would think. Seen a old caddy covered in lawn once, also a car covered with astroturf. this is what happens when you live in Kalifornia.

There is a Bronco owned by the local Rhino liner place. Looks like it is covered in freezing rain until you get close.

The Speedliner place did the back of one of their wreckers in wavy red and white stripes (cab is blue), and it really looks cool. He said he did it to hide body damage, and until he said that the texture of the stuff really made it tough to see the ripples in the side...

Got a neighbor down the road who owned a Rhino dealership for a while, and he sprayed his shower stall in his house with it and I must say it was suprisingly not that bad looking and something that would catch on if it was not so expensive. Goodluck,,Rick

Dont know about doing the body, I repainted a stock trailer a few years back and painted teh undercarraige of it and about 4 foot up the interior wall with the cheap bedliner from the local AP. Works realy well for covering all teh scratches and dings the horses put in the walls and keeps the ammonia in teh urine from sitting on the frame. I am planing to paint my flat-bed with the stuff as well, at least the deck of it.

The P/O of my truck did the lower beltline on my truck in it... He said when he bought it, the truck had that mirrored chrome stuff that goes along the lowers, and when he took it off, he could not get the glue off... so he lined over it... doesn't look bad, I actually kinda like it, but I do have to use a stiff nylon brush to get it really clean.

3KrackerRacing,

The truck I saw was in Longview and was a Ford I think. I was so busy checking out the paint scheme that I didn't pay much attention to what year model it might be. The truck had some sort of sign/insignia on the door but again I didn't get to see what it said.
