Almost ready for the lake

Just have to wax her and clean the inside. I might put in fresh gas and check the carbs since it hasn't been in the water for a couple of years. Not too bad for a 33yr old boat...

Fun Stuff.
Hey!! There is a flying saucer in the upper right corner of your picture. More proof that they exist. You probably can't see it because they erased your memory. You might not even remember saying I could borrow your boat.

fresh gas a must. nothing sucks worse then hauling **** across the lake, power starting to reduce, funny look on face and.............. silence (other than the water up against the side of the boat). motor dead, carbs gunked up, garbage plugging jets etc......

Definitely fresh gas it if you can. You don't want your fun toy motor to spoil the fun.

I think we're heading out to the lake today. Better start getting ready.

I would run it on a set of ears for a solid hour, idle for a while then higher RPM's for a bit. Do that back and forth, makes sure the engine gets hot. I would also higher recommend a marine fuel system additive to help clean out the system and deal with the methanol in the gas.

Have fun and be safe out there.

Luckily the stations around here sale non ethenol so I should be good. I put fresh gas in and she busted off pretty quick. Cleaned out the dirt dobber mud from the pee hole so I should be ready to go. Nothing like a Mercury!!!

At least you have water in your lake.... Around these parts its been so long since it rained that the lakes have dropped 6-15 feet. Most places do not have enough water to get your feet wet, much less get your boat in the water.... Have a blast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

^^^^If it hasn't been run for a few years listen for the valves. My friend has a similar boat from the mid seventies and one year after siting for a while one of the reeds stuck. When it unstuck it broke off. Time for a complete overhaul. Oh yea watch out for the nylon sleeve in the prop it could be dry rotted and spin off under load. My friend is still running the original 115 hp 2 stroke Mercury.

Just a few things to think about before you're far away from shore.
