All bombers are idiots
Recently it occured to me that all of us that modify (bomb) out trucks must be total idiots. We (myself included) must be really stupid to pour great sums of money into a diminishing asset. We know that even if we sold our bombed truck that we will probably only recoup a tiny fraction (if any) of the "investment", so why do we do that?

I'd say it is mostly for entertainment and bragging rights. I enjoy being able to tell non-diesel heads ..........-->
What other vehicle can do all of these things?
1. Pull a 15K + loaded trailer
2. Run a half-million or more miles
3. Protect the occupant from a 'T-Bone' crash from a midsize car at 50mph?
4. Run the quarter mile potentially in the 12s?
5. Still get 17-20 MPG?
And--- there is essentially no (or minimal) mileage penalty for doubling or even tripling the horsepower, unless you are actually using that power.

It's only money...
and you only live once...
I, like most of you, go to work everyday and deal with tons of stress...
you gotta have a way to get rid of that stress or you will go ...
Pimpin' out the whip is a good/clean way for me to release some stress

For me cars are sort of an investment. It's hard to tell people you own a performance shop and will modify your car I were running around in a 83 Dodge Aries!
I build my cars up the way I want them and show them, which in turn brings me business. So far every aftermarket part has paid for itself.

Keeps me off the Golf Course where I spent or lost as much as I put in the truck.
Easier and cheaper to get the truck to 600hp and 12s ETs than fix my golf game.

I told my wife that I don't spend money in bars, chase skirts, smoke or recreate phamaceutically, so what's a fuel pin here, a set of injectors there? And a set of back tires, and a little turbo upgrade, and...
Still, I'll bet my habit's cheaper than some of the barhounds we know.
