Air Ride Seat Tested

Just returned from a 5000 mile (plus) trip delivering carriages to Sierra Vista Az and Pheonix Az.
In previous trips over the past year I have had some Serious pain in my back and legs whenever i would get out of truck for fuel and for a good week after getting home.
Just a couple days before i left on this trip i installed an air ride passenger seat and i will say, without a doubt, i would never consider driving a trip like this again without an air ride.
BEST investment i have put into this truck yet

Yeah, a couple years ago the company I drive for got me a new truck with air ride seat, cab, and rear suspension. It was amazing how much "fresher" I felt at the end of a day. Air ride is the best!

Herb, have you looked at the Kelderman suspension and hitch setups?

No, not familiar with them?

They make air ride conversion kits for pickups (and trailers ), as well as air ride 5th wheels. You could have the whole rig floating down the road on pillows!

Looks like a bad spot to break down.

Seriously, though, that is a nice rig. Just right for a pickup truck to pull. How'd the sleeper work out for you?

Great. Used Flying J about everynite. They have the WiFi Hot spot wireless computer access (19.00 dollars a month) so that allowed me to keep current on my business. Reinstalled the generator in a "pit" at the rear of the trailer , to cut down on the noise/vibration in the sleeper.
Air mattress is nice and comfy. TV reception wasn't very good but had a bunch of dvd's with me so worked out ok. Guess i need to add an outside tv antenna so i can keep up with King Geaoges shenanigans

Noise from the generator?? I spent half my life sleeping in a cab over with a detroit running all night at 1200 with an air high idle. I might add with straight pipes most of the time. Ever hear a 12v71 at 1200 with dual straight pipes? You get used to it and miss it when home. You also, after getting used to it, don't notice the trucks backing in beside you, or traffic going by when parked on the shoulder. Yep it used to be legal.

Herb: That sure is a pretty picture! How do you keep the trailer cab warm? Also how many miles on your truck?

the Coleman air has a heater in it but my generator isn't big enough to power it. Guess i am going to go to a small propane heater of some kind.It is well insulated so shouldn't take much. Looked at the "heater buddies" at tractor supply ?

Not to be a smart aleck, but you did install that air-ride seat on the drivers' side, right? Wouldn't do you much good on the other would it?!!!!

Just ribbin' ya. Seriously, nice rig Herb, nicer country. That's the one thing I miss about being on the road, is the scenery.

Herb your generator must be at least 2500 watts. A Walmart 1500 watt electric heater will keep the cab warm and you can also power the engine heater from it at the same time. I have done this with mine. Actually the heater mainly stays on low. these heaters are the little brick type and for less than $30 they come with a thermostat that works well.

actually the generator is 3500 so it should handle a small electric heater. hadn't thought about that as an option

Just a suggestion, but would there be any benefit to adding some sort of wind breaker on the hitch of the gooseneck? Looks like that flat wall adds a lot of wind resistance to you.

Don't get me wrong, but it is a great looking rig, just thought you mihgt could benefit on a little mileage with a triangled wind breaker over the hitch.
