Air compressor help...

I currently have one of those 12v (cigarette lighter powered) small air compressors.. It does Ok for airing up tires, BUT this thing take forever to take a tire to 60 psi... but would be a lifesaver in an emergency

I am tired of having it take forever and am looking for a bigger compressor and probably one that runs of 120 AC.. But all i would use it for would be small clean ups (blow things off) and airing tires..

What do you recommend? I can find quite a few that are compact in the $40 range (similar to the one i have but either AC or DC models).. but then it goes up to a 3 or 4 gallon tank in the $150 and up range.. I have checked northern tool, amazon.com, jc whitney and others, but they seem either too small or overkill in size..

I found one at walmart - Cambell Hausfeld (model FP2003) that was a 2 gal tank for $90 and seems perfect.. but the box said it was not recommended for RV tires... it did not mention SUV/Truck tires one way or another though.. it seems like it would be perfect - small size, AC, carry handle..

here is a link to it..

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...%3A3915%3A4338

any comments, suggestions?
Re:Air compressor help...

Its probitly due to the fact that RV tyres are over a 100psi. Check the max psi of the compresser ,if all your inflating is up to 60psi that should work.

Re:Air compressor help...

I went thru this same thing about 6 months ago. I left the bat powered one in the trailer and went and bought a 6 gal 2 hp at Harbor Freight for $120. I got tired of having to run to the gas station to air my truck tires, plus this one can zip off the lug nuts. I would get one big enough for the job, or you may not be happy with it. ???

Re:Air compressor help...

That's a great idea getting one that'll do air tools too. I was thinking of getting an AC power inverter for my ride so I can use anything with a regular plug. Not sure where I would mount it yet, but I really like the idea of flexibility.

Now if I could only get one to inflate my tires while I'm driving,...like a Hummer. ;D Now that would be one great ride.

-SFB
