AFX Slotcar track

Hi,I got a nice AFX track for my kids for xmas (giant raceway). This track has two crossover tracks in the layout. These cause alot of crashes for us,so I purchased two 9" sections of straight track to replace the crossovers. After replacing them the cars only go around a certain area of the track and then there is no power. However if I use the other controller it will continue on in the same lane.I cant seem to figure this out. I posted on another slotcar forum with no results fo two days.If anyone can help out that will be great,Thanks When I put the crossovers back in the layout it works fine, and I have good clean contacts on the 9" straight sections

sounds like the power is supplied to each lane in different sections one being between each section of crossover.
got a link to the setup you have?

I dont know if this helps The section marked 9X is the crossover sections. But here is a link.http://www.slotcarillustrated.com/Re...-set-a412.html I noticed that in the smaller layout they dont use the crossovers in it. However I am running the larger set up.

looks liek you only have one terminal section.
have you tried a different 9" section to see if you have a bad section?

you have another section of 9" track, just swap them out.
otherwise, check for voltage from rail to rail on one track until you see where it drops out then look at that connection to see if you can figure out why its dropping there.

OK I did a visual check of all the track connections throughout the set.All appeared to be together tight.I then took everyone of them apart and put them back toghether. The track works fine now ,with the straight track or the crossovers.I have purchased clips that hold the track together and hope this will keep from having future problems. Thanks For the help Fronty.

Let me know how that setup works out for you, I am wanting something like that here for the grand kids and Like you I figured those 2 crossovers would keep me too busy trying to run the crash truck

They only know one speed anyway...Wide Open!

I am thinking of mounting it on plywood and suspend it from the ceiling with a winch so I can pull it up out of the way when not in use. Playtime I can drop it down onto some fold able plastic saw horses that will hang on the wall out of the way.

Well I gotta be honest Larry,I like it as much as they do.This thing is great. On day one, I dont know what happened but I had 9hrs in and the wife thinks Im nuts. This set up has a 3 level transformer so on the lowest level you can run full throttle and not crash.Im on intermediate and its a blast, expert is flying fast.Me and my 3 kids can play for hours with this thing.I have it on a piece of 5/8 plywood with some reinforcing underneth.Im thinking of screwing it down to the plywood to avoid these bad conections. The only thing I can tell ya is its addicting. My daughter is 6 and she does well with it.Go for it,they will love it.

Very addicting. Christmas 09 I bouht a 4 lane set for my nieces boys,
2nd&3rd grade. I knew my niece and her husband couldn't keep away from it so I bought the 4 lane-car track. I pictured the little boys saying:
"Mom when do we get to try it?" but the 4 car set gives them each a car.
