Accident

Just wanted to remind everyone to drive careful out there , you never know when somethign might happen.

My cousin was in an accident sunday night , she Just got her beginners permit a month ago , and her dad took her out for a drive , for some reaon (i don't know the circumstances) she got over too close the the shoulder , and the truck slid into the ditch , and hit a bank of some sort head on. I am told this was a very deep ditch also.

In the bed of the truck there was a grapple from a large forestry chipper (est weight of the grapple is 1500 lbs +) when the truck hit the bank , it stopped and the grapple kept going. My uncle leaned to the drivers side at the last minute and managed to keep his head intact, My cousin got hit in the head with part of the grapple , she has a concussion, spraigned neck , and alot of cuts and bruises , but other than that , both of them are ok.

here are some pics of the truck:

Insurance totaled the truck, you can't tell in the pics , but the frame started to buckle right infront of the cab , so it's toast.

speakin of the lottery ticket ,the super 7 is 25 million.

She was driving , because in NB with your beginners permit , you must drive with a licenced adult for the first 4 months , then take a road test with a driver examiner , if you pass that , you got your licence. It's a fully graduated system , after you have your class 7 for 2 years you get a class 5 , which is what i have now , and is almost expired , i am planning to go and get my class 3 and air brake , incase i ever need it.

Glad all are on the mend.
Parts is Parts, they can be replaced.

Side note:
Another reminder to
SECURELY TIE DOWN THE LOAD
IN THE BED

I don't know for sure if it was tied down or not, but witht he weight , it would have buckled the box anyways , sheet metal can't stop that much momentum , but it could have made a huge difference I would imagine.

I almost had an accident with a pallet of fertilizer , 50 lbs bags , when i first got the truck , had a plastic bed liner in it.

When a kid started to cross the road infront of me , i got on the binders , and the pallet slid ahead , hit the front of the box , and shoved it and the back of the cab ahead, we had to pull the box off , straighten and reinforce it , and pull the seats from the cab and rig a 20 ton jack to press the cab back out , the rear slider still doesn't open.

SECURELY TIE DOWN THE LOAD
IN THE BED
.
what could they possibly have tied a 1500 LB grappler to in the bed of a pickup which wouldnt brake at a sudden stop? they may have been able to slow it down, maybe by taking the tailgate off and securing a chain to the reciever. lets face it, all the trucks are a little lacking on securing heavy cargo. they may be fine for your dirt bike, but that sudden of a stop would even put that into a cab.

If it's too large that it can't be securely tied down,.....
Which is better?........ to get larger truck, or get another head.

If you had a Concrete Bedliner to tie it down to, it for sure wouldn't move.

Headache rack. This is why people put those things on their trucks.
