98 Ford F150

My grandfather is buying a new truck and keeping his old one. I think I'm gonna buy it from him, something to use at work and take to the farm. It needs some work though. The gas tank has a hole on top and the front bracket broke and is being held up by a strap down. The tie rods broke and my cousin (owns his own service shop) put used ones in, I want to get new ones in it though. Brakes will need to be replaced and the motor need to be replaced/rebuilt as well as the tranny in about 30-50k miles. I'm buying the truck for around $750. How much money do y'all think it will cost to get all the work done? The truck is a 98 F150 XLT 5.4 Triton V8 Regular Cab Long Bed 2wd. Thanks for the input.

Go to F150online.com to get a better line on prices, but being a 2wd, a reman engine and tranny (4R70W) is going to cost you more than the truck is worth. I have a 98 Expedition Eddie Bauer 4x4 and I'd be LUCKY to get $5000 for it.

Ugh, didn't wanna hear that. Maybe this truck will hold out long enough so I can afford a newer/better condition truck.
