Sure thing... maybe. I have a hard time getting out of bed some mornings, and I'm 33. I can't imagine how Lary feels...

I've been known to "cuss like a sailor" on occassion, and think of myself as neither uneducated, unable to speak the language or of low class....
There are times that proper verbiage and grammar just don't convey the emotional aspect of what one is attempting to communicate.
A prime example would be attempting to voice ones frustration and anger at ones self after striking your own thumb with a hammer......hard.......
Those instances almost REQUIRE the use of "blue streak " style words to actually describe how you feel!

But I try to avoid it in daily conversation

I embarrassed THE BOSS.once when, in a public place, she told me to grow up (over something I had gone or said ) and I belted out the ToysRUs
jingle......she has since given up hoping Ill "act my age"

As have I when the situation warranted it......I do however strive to keep from using such language in public. I have actually altered a cuss word in mid utterance so it comes out only half a cuss word mixed with nonsense

As we all know it is all about being respectful of others......use bad language next to my Wife and MIL when I take them out to dinner and you get ME in your face explaining how I do not tolerate such disrespect around the Ladies.... just the way I was raised......

Not at all

I try to tell some of the young guys here when I talk to them about using profanity in the threads that if we were hanging out in the shop drinking beers while wrenching, anything goes...but here on the forum we have Ladies, Children and Grand Mothers reading these threads and they need to talk just like they would if they were sitting at Grandma's table.

I think of myself the same way and try to refrain from eating picked boogers when in public.

I try not to curse a whole lot, but when I get ticked I usually say, "Mother of... goodness! Last time I can remember really letting a string off was when I got in a fight with some dude... a for real fight.

I think Stan was referring to swearing while having a normal conversation with someone, and I agree with him. There are people that cannot formulate a simple single sentence without interjecting the 'F' bomb into it. There is no need of it and it is one of the most ignorant things I can think of.

Mornin' all!

It is Wednesday, August 27th.

1859 - The first oil well was successfully drilled in the U.S. by Colonel Edwin L. Drake near Titusville, PA.

1892 - The original Metropolitan Opera House in New York was seriously damaged by fire.

1894 - The Wilson-Gorman Tariff Act was passed by the U.S. Congress. The provision within for a graduated income tax was later struck down by the U.S. Supreme Court.

1938 - Robert Frost, in a fit of jealousy, set fire to some papers to disrupt a poetry recital by another poet, Archibald MacLeish.

1939 - **** Germany demanded the Polish corridor and Danzig.

1945 - American troops landed in Japan after the surrender of the Japanese government at the end of World War II.

1962 - Mariner 2 was launched by the United States. In December of the same year the spacecraft flew past Venus. It was the first space probe to reach the vicinity of another planet.

1972 - North Vietnam's major port at Haiphong saw the first bombings from U.S. warplanes.

1981 - Work began on recovering a safe from the Andrea Doria. The Andrea Doria was a luxury liner that had sank in 1956 in the waters off of Massachusetts.

1984 - U.S. President Ronald Reagan announced that the first citizen to go into space would be a teacher. The teacher that was eventually chosen was Christa McAuliffe. She died in the Challenger disaster on January 28, 1986.

1985 - The Space Shuttle Discovery left for a seven-day mission in which three satellites were launched and another was repaired and redeployed.

1998 - "Titanic" became the first movie in North America to earn more than $600 million.

1999 - The final crew of the Russian space station Mir departed the station to return to Earth. Russia was forced to abandon Mir for financial reasons.

2001 - The U.S. military announced that an Air Force RQ-1B "Predator" aircraft was lost over Iraq. It was reported that the unmanned aircraft "may have crashed or been shot down."

2001 - Work began on the future site of a World War II memorial on the U.S. capital's historic national Mall. The site is between the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial.

Today's thought:

Oh-oh, Now you have me worried about me. Going to stop drinking the breakroom coffee and see if things get any better.

Off to make my own coffee and wash my wife's SUV. Grocery run day for her today. Every Wednesday the local chain store gives discounts on food. Here, this will give some of you an idea of what it like to live here:
