4dr Rubicon or Nitro RT
The new Jeep V6 has 205 HP. I havnt driven one yet but Im thinking its going to feel a little underpowered in the 4dr. I can see that working well in a much lighter 2dr but the added weight in the 4dr makes me wonder. I love my truck but its a big monthly payment for the 14km drive to my new job. I no longer need to tow my work trailer and its for sale. Its simply a case of not needing the truck anymore and a an extra few hundred bucks in my pocket each month would be nice too. I'll go drive em both and see what I like.
Ive been really looking at trading in for a lot of the same reasons right now.
However, after looking at my options in the more "compact 4x4" market. I'll just keep my truck. It gets the same milage. The insurance is about the same and same with the power.
The only advantage I've found after looking at a whole lotta vehicles is that they are a little smaller. Most of the new vehicles are just awfully expensive and really don't appeal to me I guess. I looked at a double cab Tacoma with the V6. 30k on the old sticker and got the same milage as my truck pretty much. Also, have you looked at the weight of newer vehicles? The Grand Cherokees are 1000 lbs. heavier than my old 1994, they get the same mileage, and aren't much bigger. Also, 30k base price on a Grand Cherokee 4x4? My 1994 Limited is as fancy as it got 13 years ago and the sticker says 30k. I understand inflation but if I can get the Dodge/Cummins for the price of a Grand Cherokee I'll go for the truck.
Good luck on your search, I liked the new Jeeps because they are still a fairly nice simple vehicle and if you go for the all out Rubicon they are set up pretty nicely from the factory if you actually plan to do some offroading. Still can't think of a Jeep costing 30k though. I miss the old Wranglers in the early 90's you could get a Wrangler for about 11k base price.
There is a recall right now on the Jeeps and Nitro's actually. I think it was something to do with programming, but if your buying new I'd make sure its up to date if it has been already.
Have a good one test driving. Its always a fun pastime!

Well now that I have a new job and I'm not contracting anymore I dont need my truck to tow the trailer with my equipment in it anymore. All my spray equipment is up for sale and Im thinking about trading in the truck on a full load Jeep 4dr or a Nitro RT. I have a short commute to work now and the most ill ever tow is a 5x10 utility trailer to haul around household stuff. What do you guys think would be better? I still havn't gone to test drive either but I am goin to stick with the dealer Ii got my truck from. They are great to deal with. The Nitro RT has more HP but the Rubicon is more capable off road. That being said I dont really 4x4 ever. I am kinda wondering if the Jeep will be refined enough all around or if its too stripped down inside.I am also wondering if the 205 HP the jeep has is going to be enough or if its goin to feel way under powered.
If you need to ask, between a mini van and Jeep, you sure don't need a Jeep!
