20+ Dead at VA Tech Shooting
Just picked this out of the Fox News page.....
Are they nuts? What two random criminals would just happen to start shooting up a college campus at the same time?
Yeah Shovel, gotta love the incorrect term for magazine. Use of the word "clips" when referring to magazines is a shorter way of saying, "I know nothing about firearms!".
Box, I'm not certain how old you are, but if you are of legal handgun ownership age then you should be responsible enough not to be getting into scuffles on a regular basis. Concealed Carry Licensee's are some of the most law abiding citizens in the land. Only one of the instructors/professors/students alike would have needed to have a firearm to end this before so many innocent people lost their lives.
Police also said there is no evidence that the two shootings at opposite ends of campus were related.

I think it has been proven time and again that "gun control" does not keep weapons out of the hands of the bad guys.
One of the pics on TV showed a cop on top of an asian male, but you could not tell much about what was going on, and nothing was said.

I've been watching it all morning. Our kids aren't safe anywhere anymore.
Now there's a news story about the FBI warning about terrorists targeting school buses..
Thoughts and prayers to VA Tech.

Below is a snipit of a story on 01/31/2006 in the Roanoke Times at: http://www.roanoke.com/news/roanoke/wb/wb/xp-50658
I'm sure the Virginia Tech spokesman Larry Hincker is happy today.
"A bill that would have given college students and employees the right to carry handguns on campus died with nary a shot being fired in the General Assembly.
House Bill 1572 didn't get through the House Committee on Militia, Police and Public Safety. It died Monday in the subcommittee stage, the first of several hurdles bills must overcome before becoming laws.
The bill was proposed by Del. Todd Gilbert, R-Shenandoah County, on behalf of the Virginia Citizens Defense League. Gilbert was unavailable Monday and spokesman Gary Frink would not comment on the bill's defeat other than to say the issue was dead for this General Assembly session.
Virginia Tech spokesman Larry Hincker was happy to hear the bill was defeated. "I'm sure the university community is appreciative of the General Assembly's actions because this will help parents, students, faculty and visitors feel safe on our campus."
Del. Dave Nutter, R-Christiansburg, would not comment Monday because he was not part of the subcommittee that discussed the bill.
Most universities in Virginia require students and employees, other than police, to check their guns with police or campus security upon entering campus. The legislation was designed to prohibit public universities from making "rules or regulations limiting or abridging the ability of a student who possesses a valid concealed handgun permit ... from lawfully carrying a concealed handgun."
The legislation allowed for exceptions for participants in athletic events, storage of guns in residence halls and military training programs.
Last spring a Virginia Tech student was disciplined for bringing a handgun to class, despite having a concealed handgun permit. Some gun owners questioned the university's authority, while the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police came out against the presence of guns on campus.
In June, Tech's governing board approved a violence prevention policy reiterating its ban on students or employees carrying guns and prohibiting visitors from bringing them into campus facilities."

What the Media is focusing on:
- How "easy" it is to get a handgun.
- How "high-capacity" magazines allow so many people to be shot so fast.
- How lax gun-control laws allowed this to happen.
What the Media SHOULD be focusing on:
- How many dead ADULT college students were disarmed by the college adminstration "for their own safety".
- How even after the Amish school execution-style killings, ADULTS are still willing to just line up and be shot without ever resisting.
- How the the ingrained mentality of nonviolence and pacifism rampant in schools and society gets people KILLED.
- How dozens (if not hundreds) of existing gun-control laws FAILED to stop this killer.

This is the most true statement I have ever read. Gun Control is only going to keep responsible people from carrying guns, the type of people who are going to walk through a school and start shooting people are not exactly worried about what the law says about carrying guns.
News conferance is about to kick off and you can stream it from foxnews.com
edit:While I totally agree that its a good idea to have CCW and if only one CCW had been around for this it could have been averted or at the least less loss of life we shouldnt turn this into a rant for the NRA in this thread. Remember the fallen and share info on whats going on down there.

they can have a hayday but they will never get everyone to give up their guns. It would take years to get all the guns from ppl. I dont think it would ever happen. everybody wants to point fingers at bush its not his fault. guns dont kill ppl, ppl kill ppl. I lost a good friend in a shooting accident, I know how it goes.
They tried to ban guns here at the U of U and it was voted out, but they are still trying.
Hopefully folks realize that if you make having guns on campus criminal, only the criminals will have guns.
A few trained CCW'ers could have prevented a lot of death today.
