2" pipe thread, isn't standard, what is it?

We purchased (4) totes of quench oil to ship with one of our furnaces (each tote 270 gallons). The totes are plastic, they have a large (4" or so) cap on the top. At the bottom of the tote is a plastic ball valve and a plastic pipe cap. Unscrew the cap and I see what looks close to a 2" NPT thread. But a 2" NPT fitting loosely fits it. The plastic thread would no way hold a 2" NPT coupling and would leak badly if it did hold.

To drain the tote into our tank we will raise the tote with a fork truck about 4' high. Then to channel the oil into our tank we need to screw a 3' long pipe to the plastic valve on the tote to drain the oil from the tote.

What the heck is the tread? I called the supplier of the tote & oil and I am on the 4th of 5th person there and still no answer. I'll try to get a picture.

Here is what the threads on the valve look like.

Calling the supplier was a real treat, the third person they transfered me to is the one that also works the technical assistance phone lines. He had an accent only his mother could understand.

Here is a full picture

You can get hosing and a coupler for that at a pool supply store. It is not a npt thread. We have similar totes that I store waste oil in, I purchased the fittings I needed at a pool supply store called Namco.

Page 2 the chlorine feeder is what I used to adapt it to a 10' pool water return line to drop the product into an underground storage tank. You will need a flat surface o-ring gasket also.

Threaded fittings for valves located on Intermediate bulk containers can be some of the toughest to find. Years ago, each manufacturer had a proprietary thread on their IBC containers, you were once forced to go to the tank manufacturer for replacement valves and associated fittings. However that has since changed and in many cases the thread type is associated with the type of product dispensed from the tote. Given that the container holds a liquid petroleum product, the threads on the ball valve pictured would likely be Buttress threads.

We have about 10 of those at work we keep waste oil in, ours all have banjos on em, though. It does almost look like half a union.

it's definetlly not a npt thread. dizzle is probably right. Take the cap with u when u r out looking for the fitting, they will probably have a male one as well. that way u can see if the threads make up properly. it also has a fire hose, pump hose looking shape so u may have a couple choices.good luck

Maybe it's metric?
We have a few totes that say the connection is metric.

I got back from up north and the guys at the shop found out what we needed. The threads are just to hold the cap.
Just like a few said above it's a (2" Cam Lock) like the firemen use on their hoses. They ordered it from Graingers, the clamp with a hose barb on the other. Cost is something like $6, we'll have it tomorrow. Learn something new every day. Thanks for the help.
