1 Jan 2003
My first post of 2003. What to say? Last year, except for Dodge related stuff, I'll be more than willing to forget. Let's pray that this madness that seems to envelop us goes away and we can truly enjoy peace and happiness. Unfortunately, others seem to be wrapped up in their desires to destroy us and our way of life. I'm not an overly religious person but a prayer now and then for our servicemen and others serving in these troubled times would be appreciated. What kind of insanity dictates sneaking into a hospital run by foreigners, paid for by foreigners, and slaughtering innocents who dedicated their lives to ease the suffering of others less fortunate than us? What's truly pitiful is the way "our country" and its liberal laws will bend over backwards to protect the poor suffering misunderstood miscreant and besides, it's our fault anyway. But, there are still those of us who keep prodding at this lunacy. Where am I going with this? I don't know. Just had to say something. Sometimes I feel so helpless with the swirl of current events beating down the doors of "Mom and apple pie" America. Time to get off the box and think about what to do today.

~Dave

I know how ya feel Dave,
The really sad thing is,,,,,,,,,, 2003 will not be the end of it, nor will the years to come I'm afraid,,,,,, so in order to retain some kind of sanity,,,,,,, we need to look for the few bright spots that shine in every day.

An Amen to what you said Dave.
'03 is going to be an interesting, if not very trying year for many of us. My gut feeling is that many of us will be away from our families. Whether it is 6 days from now or 6 months is unknown. Knowing that there are people out there that care enough, for us still in uniform, to include us in their prayers is a good feeling. I'm not saying I'm scared, but I'm very concerned. There's just not many of us "old hands" left to show these kids the ropes. I fully intend to impart on them all the knowledge and experience I've gained. It's not like it was 35 years ago when we had the experienced old chiefs from WW2, Korea, and early Vietnam.
To everyone in DTR, I wish you a good 2003 and keep us in you thoughts and prayers.

shortround out
It's 2003 and we are no longer ONE of the big boy's on the block.... we ARE the big boy on the block! With that, there will always be some pounding at the door crying OPPRESSION.
They don't see the entire picture. The evil, self serving governments have always toppled, while we are well into getting 300 years from ours. Sure we are gonna give our interests priority, but we didn't get this high on the pecking order by not considering the interests of others. Until these people open their perspective and become constructive, they will continue to fight for day to day survival instead of leading productive lives. They may or may not see 2004, but we will still be here.
