Morning.
Lost power at about 0045 hours, just got it back. Spent the last couple of hours putting generators away. Then brought truck to the vet for the fuel in oil problem. Now it's time for a nap.
Today is Wednesday, August 24th.
On this day in 1814 - Washington, DC, was invaded by British forces that set fire to the White House and Capitol.
1867 - Johns Hopkins died. The railroad millionaire left $7.5 million in his will for the founding of a new medical school in his name.
1880 - Joshua Lionel Cowen was born. He was the inventor of the toy electric train.
1912 - A four-pound limit was set for parcels sent through the U.S. Post Office mail system. Strange how when they delivered mail by horse there were no weight limits or restrictions. The more technologically advanced they get, the less they'll accept!
1932 - Amelia Earhart became the first woman to fly across the U.S. non-stop. The trip from Los Angeles, CA to Newark, NJ, took about 19 hours. And ironically, it still takes that long if you figure in the time getting searched by the TSA, checking/claiming baggage and waiting for take off's and landings.
1949 - The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) went into effect. The agreement was that an attack against on one of the parties would be considered "an attack against them all."

1998 - A donation of 24 beads was made, from three parties, to the Indian Museum of North America at the Crazy Horse Memorial. The beads are said to be those that were used in 1626 to buy Manhattan from the Indians.
2001 - In McAllen, TX, Bridgestone/Firestone agreed to settle out of court and pay a reported $7.5 million to a family in a rollover accident in their Ford Explorer.
2001 - The remains of nine American servicemen killed in the Korean War were returned to the U.S. The bodies were found about 60 miles north of Pyongyang. It was estimated that it would be a year before the identies of the soldiers would be known.
2005 - The planet Pluto was reclassified as a "dwarf planet" by the International Astronomical Union (IAU). Pluto's status was changed due to the IAU's new rules for an object qualifying as a planet. Pluto met two of the three rules because it orbits the sun and is large enough to assume a nearly round shape. However, since Pluto has an oblong orbit and overlaps the orbit of Neptune it disqualified Pluto as a planet.

On a side note, the head catch on my squeeze chute has a pin and socket hinge at the bottom. The pelosis' who built it did not drill a hole in the bottom so it catches water like a cup and has rusted so bad the head catch hardly moves. Any ideas on how to get the rust out of that socket so I can get some grease into the zirk and lube it up??? I was thinking coke, or pepsi, but I am not sure if that will make things worse. Any ideas??? gutta run the cows back through next monday for AI...
Jeff, drill 2 holes in the socket and tap both. Install a screw in plug in the one on the bottom as a drain. In your zerk hole fill the socket with automatic transmission fluid and install the zerk. Use the gate for a bit to loosen the rust and crush it up a little so it will pass out the drain hole, then remove the bottom plug and start pumping a light grease in the zerk. About every 2 hours of operation give it 10 or so pumps of the light grease to flush out some more of the junk. In a couple days you should be able to close up the bottom hole. Maybe a zip tie and a piece of inner tube might make a rain guard to keep most of the water out in the future.

Getting ready to be the lunch laddy.
Most of the trash I put out last night is gone before the trash pick up. Stuff that others might want, or sell for scrap.
Supposed to pick up the 02 Nissan Altima today.

tin knight done, stands by itself too. couple coats of paint and then I officially have no clue as to what to do with it. but it's done.
BIG log cut up, easier than we thought. only 36 inch bar used. split easy after trouble of getting it on the splitter. just checking things out ... now do the other 40 smaller ones LOL....

miss that Lousiana guy.....think they are brain washing him in PA....
