Tom,

Did I see you today making a left onto Horseneck and then making a right turn just up the road?? I was coming up to your truck and you turned in front of me and I was thinking "is that Tom's truck?" I saw the exhuast tip and then saw the Cummins power emblem on the truck when you turned right. I blew the horn, did you hear it?? This was about 12:30 today!!!

That was me, and I thought I looked in the mirror and saw you, but wasn't sure. What were you doing in my neck of the woods?

Your Honor, your Honor. Congratulations Mike, glad it finally came through. How come your avatar didn't change? EDIT: Just checked our former leader's name, his still says president and he has the DTR avatar. Wonder why that is?

Any hey, offer the guy $300 and you'll go pick them up. Don't have anything to lose by making an offer.....

Whew, what a weekend, sucks to be home I can tell you that.

Too bad I missed the nights at Hooters, but we had a good time in NY. Sounds like you are going to be pretty pleased with the twins there George, can't wait to see how it does
Congrats on the new semi-official almost legal President

Best way to post pics/vids is Photobucket. free/easy

Well, guys I need your advice. I currently have a 2005 Power Wagon which I treat like a colllector car. Anyway, I am thinking of swapping to a 3rd gen. I don't know how much better it will be on fuel, but it has to be a little better than a Hemi with 4.56 gears. If I buy one used I will be more inclined to drive it and will fit into the club. I will retain at least one first gen for fun.

1. what kind of fuel mileage can I expect from a QC shorty auto 4wd 5.9 In stock form? (3.55 or 3.73 gears).
2. What aftermarket products will increase the mpg if any? On the '92, turnin' up the fuel increased the mpg and the grin factor.
3.What is the best year to shoot for 2003 to 2006? I will try newer as I like the 06 headlamps but budget is everything

4. What problems can I expect epecially in a truck with 100,000 or more on the clock? I will do the extended warranty if I can.

I thank you for the input as I trust you guys and I am in your field of expertise here.

Congrats to the new prez. No lame duck there, unless he shot it.

ps ....I'm lookin for a black 2500 around $17k. I know the miles will be up there for that price, but I found a few already.Yes, I have been bitten by the bug. Can't help it when they go blowin by the house everyday!

As for exact mileage numbers of an auto, I am not certain, but it is a known fact that an 03-04 truck will get the best economy and likely cheaper, so that may be a good route to take. Increasing mileage is going to be a tuner, as you have probably read/heard, Smarty is the preferred option there
Other than that, the auto fellas will have to chime in

Wow, that sounds pretty good Mike, Could use to drop another buck-a-gallon, but that is better than 4.70 Of course, now I just finally got the car, but we are closing on the house Wednesday, so the car will have it's use for sure...

I will try to answer your questions as best I can. Hopefully others can chime in with more info if I forget something.[/B]

1. what kind of fuel mileage can I expect from a QC shorty auto 4wd 5.9 In stock form? (3.55 or 3.73 gears). You have two choices, 3.73's or 4.10's. My truck with the 4.10's and 35' tires averages 16 or so around town and 18+ or so on the highway. This is based off the overhead which is always off.
2. What aftermarket products will increase the mpg if any? On the '92, turnin' up the fuel increased the mpg and the grin factor.I have a Smarty S04 and currently have it set on level 1 which is the fuel economy setting. I average around 450 miles to 3/4 of a tank which is mostly city driving.
3.What is the best year to shoot for 2003 to 2006? I will try newer as I like the 06 headlamps but budget is everythingThe 03-early 04's get the best fuel mileage. I personally like the newer interiors, but the seats do seem harder than the seats in my 04.5

4. What problems can I expect epecially in a truck with 100,000 or more on the clock? I will do the extended warranty if I can.I would say just go over the truck and ask for the service history. I have replaced my entire front end (ball joints, tie rod ends, sway bar links, hub bearings) with greaseable parts. Mike has had his done twice at the dealer under warranty. The fuel system will need to be upgraded if you plan on doing any mods.

Hope this helps you Brian. Good luck in your search for a 3rd Gen. There are plenty out there, you just need to find one that hasn't gotten the life kicked out of it.[/QUOTE]

Here is a link to a similar truck, not all that close, but has less miles!

Tom, thanks for the in depth answers! What is the difference between an 04 and an 04.5? I did not know 3.55 were not available. Learnin' by the minute here. Brian, Yeah I saw that one, It seems to good to be true-mileage vs price. I 'll carfax it.

Thanks guys, Brian.
