Yeah, that part is always a plus, but it sucks the big one working Sat. I get screwed on all of the big events that way. I was going to take the day off for Spring Fling so I can go with you guys, but the week after that I am using 1/2 day to head down to MD for the party.

just sucks.

This week just keeps getting better and better for me......

Beginning started out okay until Thursday when I went to service my truck at my buddy's shop. What should have taken a few hours took about four due to the oil catcher overflowing and us having to stay later to wash the rest of the fluid off the floor.

Than I come home from work yesterday and get a letter that I am not being considered for the dispatching job I interviewed for. Pretty much a "thanks, but no thanks" letter that I was not being invited back for the second interview. This is probably the fifth letter like this I have gotten in the past year and I just feel like giving up on this whole police thing.

Than the topper of them all - today. Load the truck to go down the shore and do a job but I had an open house for my summer job. Get my usual morning coffee and head over to Newark Academy. Well the coffee is about 3/4 full as I roll into the parking lot and swing the truck around to park in my usual spot and BAM the next thing I know I am covered in coffee and the truck has stopped moving. All the stuff in my bed has flown out and my interior is also covered in coffee. Get out of the truck and see that I hit on of those 4ft. high concrete light pole bases that had no light on it. Bumper is in the tire and antifreeze is spewing out. Truck definitly not driveable. Call my insurance company and they setup my appointment at the bodyshop, rental, so on and I call AAA for the rollback and they show up in 10 minutes. Needless to say the truck is sitting at Caldwell Collision and who knows when I will get it back. Looks like the bumper and plow frame took all the damage. Hood, fender, lights, all seemed to be fine, but who knows...

Just feels like I get one step forward in life and than take 3 huge steps back. I guess I'm in a rut or something.

Sorry for the long post, but I just need to vent a little. I will not be going to Spring Fling next week. I need to save my $$ for the deductible and any other added costs that I may incur throughout this process. I don't make a lot of money, and the money I had set aside for this event as well as Island trips and such may need to be used now. I do get $30 a day for a rental, so I will probably rock a Chevy Cobalt or something like that. At least it will get good mileage right?

Anyhow, I hope you guys have better luck than I do in the next few weeks. I will keep you posted on whats going on.

Thanks, I will let you know about the hood. Damage seems to be the bumper, radiator, and plow frame. Hood, lights, fender all look good. We shall see once they start taking it apart. Truck was still dripping antifreeze today and it has been over 24 hours.

dang Tom, really sorry to hear about the bad string of luck lately. It's tacky I know, but it stands true, "Keep your chin up, it will get better."

Anything going on this weekend?

Tom, Sorry to hear about your truck!!!!!!!! Just a thought but if you are leaking rad fluid you might have a bad intercooler, not fluid to leak but you will have to get it pressure tested. Sorry to hear about the bad luck.

Update: Got a call from the body shop today. The entire frame has to be replaced because it is bent in two spots and the owner told me that the frame will not be strong if they throw it on the machine and straighten it. Another bonus is that it cannot be done at the shop where it is, it will have to be towed over to another local shop or the dealer to be fixed. Body shop owner told me that he is waiting for the supervisor from the insurance company to call him and approve the frame replacement. The estimate is around $10-12,000 so the truck will most likely not be totaled. Shop says it could be 3-4 weeks before I see the truck, so I am thankful that I have a rental car.

The body shop owner is really cool and took the time to explain everything to me. He told me that although he could straighten the frame, it wouldn't be safe and could cause problems in the long run. He told me that his shop will be doing most of the work and one of his guys will go over to his other shop to swap the frames if need be. My truck is too big for them to do it at the shop where it is. Obviously if it goes to the dealer, their guy will work on the truck.

Anyway, I will be rocking the 2007 Nissan Sentra rental for awhile. Its not as cool as the Level 10 Taurus though......

WOW!! That was a pretty good hit. Although I guess with the truck being so heavy it's the momentum did most of the damage. Sounds like you have a great body guy who is going to take of you truck! Any pics of the damage??

Dang Tom, you really did take a shot! Sorry to hear about how extensive the damage is, but like has been said, at least they are making the effort to do it right. Sounds like a nice little rental car though

Just got some good news..... Truck is being moved from Caldwell to another shop in Boonton where they will be able to swap the frames out. The other shop is not as busy so as soon as they get the parts, it should be done within a week. Truck will be moved today and the shop will begin tearing it down tomorrow. I asked about the aftermarket stuff I have on the frame (FASS and air horns) and the new shop said it will not be a problem to swap them over. So it won't be a month until I see my truck, it may be a few weeks. Until then, I will be rocking the Sentra.
