Cummins in a Ford
#16
Ive done it.... 12 valve in a 99 F-250... ALOT of work...ALOT of money...ALOT of time... would i do it again? probably not... But i like what ive got ...its been over a year since i completed it and im still not done working all the bugs out... ive got nearly $14000 in it all with 460hp and 940 torque... Took me a month to do the complete swap, just working on it after i got out of school each day and some days i didnt work on it... Even though you think you have all the parts...you probably will still be making several trips to the parts store and other places to get it all completed after you start....
For that kind of money and he still wants a Ford...just upgrade to the 6.0 with a set of injectors, exhaust, tuner and you will be at 500rwhp. and have ALOT less money in it,but that's just me.....cause I already have one

Unless you are going to keep that truck for a VERY long time you can't justify doing the swap for that kind of money.
Plus when you get ready to sell the truck you are going to have alot of explaining to do as to why there isn't a 7.3 in the truck to the average buyer.
What is your goal with the truck?
