Coastal Plains Dragway on Sunday Feb.1, 2009?
Jess:
We will do that Jess! Sorry this was such short notice. I probably would not have even gone out there had our friend Chris not called and invited us to go along with him. The track was PACKED yesterday! There were over 100 vehicles there.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I had a great time too Nate! It was good to see you and Chris Crooms again.
For those of you that missed this, our friend Chris Crooms with his 2004 Dodge Hemi SC, 4X4 Auto, which he has been modifying for awhile now, was running very consistent 12.8's all day long at 101-103 MPH! IMHO,...that is darn quick for that truck. My congratulations to Chris Crooms on getting into the 12's!
I know how hard you have worked on your truck buddy!
Nate and I also "lined up" our Flame Red Dodge CTD CR Trucks as we have been wanting to do for awhile now. Nate is running JUST the "hot" Smarty now, (I think the TNT-R version) and I still have the earlier Smarty 4.10 Program "stacked" with my TST with R-49. Unfortunately for me,....I forgot to bring my Smarty Programmer with me to the track so I could trun everything up and at least TRY to stay with Nate's Truck!
Well,... we left the line and I beat him on reaction time (.680 to Nate's 1.01) but Nate passed me up and kicked my rear pretty good running a very impressive 13.09@103.6 against my much slower time of 13.6@101.1!
Nate, my CONGRATULATIONS to you buddy!
I kept telling Nate "he was going to beat me" but he didn't think so.
After I got home, I plugged in my Smarty Programmer and found that I had it on "LEVEL #4, not level #5 as I thought at the track. So, I was running Smarty Level #4, TST on 2/1 and I think Nate was on Smarty Level #9. So,....we have decided to go back to CPD and try it again soon. Hopefully, Cris Croom will join DTR later today, and get some video up of our race in addition to the runs with his Dodge Hemi Truck. Cris,....thanks alot for bringing your video camera!
So,...in addition to my 2006 having gotten the "Death Wobble" Disease, it also seems to have slowed down in it's old age!
My previous best at CPD with the 2006 was 13.0@105 MPH with the same Smarty on Level #8 and the TST on 3/2 with timing and rail pressure set higher than today.
One last thing of interest. We also ran into one of the "Diesel Addiction" Duramax Crew out there, namely, Chris, and he advised Nate that NCDTR #18 Member "OthrGrl", namely, Dustin, has blown his engine in his Duramax!

Had a great time with my buddy John P. and Nate over at Coastal Plains. Glad you guys could make it out. Had a blast. John as always it was a pleasure to hit the track with you. Nate, it was great to meet you, and I enjoyed the racing. Wish it wouldn't have been so crowded, I ended up getting a total of 4 runs in before taking off for the Superbowl action. We'll do it again soon.

Chris:
Welcome to the website buddy and thanks for making your first post here!
I for one, am glad to see you over here. Like Nate said, you have one quick Dodge Hemi Pickup Chris! Heck, your truck is quicker than alot of our Members here, including mine and Nates!
Feel free to post in here whenever you want Chris.---------

Chris (the Diesel Addiction Chris) ran 12.4s all day from what I understand - on those POS UniRoyal tires.
Sadly Chris is right, something finally let go in my motor. I was running 12.3s and 12.4s for 6 months of going to the track almost every weekend, sometimes 2 nights a week and driving it like I stole it on the same tuning every day. I have also run it hard over 4000 RPM on the dyno several times. You can only ask so much of all stock internals and valve springs.
Since it's last track and dyno runs I installed a drive pressure gauge and custom headers and up-pipes and was tuning the variable vane turbo to lower drive pressure. It was feeling alot stonger, especially in the top end - it would rise from 55-100mph much faster than I had ever seen it do. I couldn't get EGTs to go over 1250* no matter what I did either. I was sceduled with Wayne to dyno it and then was going to run at the track to get solid before and after times and numbers on the headers and up-pipes, with and without the new, more effecient tuning.
When I first heard it, it sounded like a dropped valve and by the time I limped it home it was smoking and sounded like a cracked piston. I'm fairly certain that it has a cracked piston and we'll see on teardown what it was caused by (a valve or an injector are the likely culprits) It still runs and drives but doesn't sound pretty doing it and smokes like a low compression truck at idle. It'll be getting a a built motor soon - billet rods, cut and coated pistons, Stage 2 heads, high rev valve springs, even bigger injectors, dual CP3s, head and main studs, and eventually a bigger variable turbo. I plan to catch up to the Red Rocket and Winston's LB7 after the build.
BTW thanks for keeping whatever flaming Ben decided to do out of here, I don't know what he said but the funny thing is that I just got his buddy Jed out of a bad financial situation by buying the pile of parts the 2 of them were collected to build Jed a new motor - and Ben has never said anything to me in private or on other furoms about whatever his problem is with us. I'll leave it at that and talk to him privately about it.

Dustin,i noticed you are going stage 2 heads.before you go and buy some socal heads call me.there is a local guy who does the head and engine work for us,andlets face it no dmax motor has put more power to thr track than this guy.not to mention the price is way down.
As far as I know he has never done any business with us, raced us, met us, or anything so I don't know how we could displease him. There is a forum we're on where everyone can brag about their times at the track but when I said Winston went 11.4 or that we have an LBZ running 12.4s on a lift pump, trans and tuning they all jumped down my throat about it for not paying $500 to mention the name "Diesel Addiction" since it is a group of guys that race together (aka a team, just like their team twisted, team salad, ect) as well as a business. We have since paid the $500 and I thought all was well.
