Classes and Payouts for NC18 6th Annual Event

Hey Everyone!

We finally had a chance to get together on the classes and payouts for this event.

Drag Race:

Unlimited 1/8th 1st: $500/Trophy
2nd: $250/Trophy

Unlimited 1/8 will be run at an index in the 1/8th mile.

Quick Diesel 1st: $300/Trophy
2nd: $200/Trophy

Quick Diesel will be run at an index of 12.0 in the 1/4 mile.

Handshaker $250 Gift Cert./Trophy

No index and will be 1/4 mile.

Fastest Marine Engraved Ka-Bar Knife.

Heads up 1/4 mile against Madhat after eliminations.

Dyno Event:

Unlimited Pot plus match up to $200 by Mr. X/Throphy

#2 $200/Throphy

****We decided not to run an E.T. class because of time constraints. We only have 4 hours to complete this event and it would take too long to let everyone get their dial in and run an E.T. ladder. ****

Winner Circle Photos will be provided by Jerry Cummings of Eagle Star Photography.

Other cash prizes:

Fastest Dodge $100 by Tre Diesel.

Bounty on Fastest Dodge $200 by Duraflite Racing to any PSD or Duramax that beats the fastest Cummins.

I would like to thank all of the event sponsors, without them this kind of event would not be possible. Remember the sponsors when you're looking to do business!

Cummins Atlantic
NAPA
Eaglestar
Sun Coast
Buck's Communication
NADM
F1 Diesel
National Speed
TRE Diesel
L&N Automotive
Advance Auto
Sears
Mr. X
Bob Wagner/Smarty Power
Scheid Diesel
South Bend Clutch
Diesel Truck Resource
RPM Diesel (McMopar)

There will also be other prizes for different awards yet to be announced from each of the events along with a 50/50 raffle.

Just a suggestion, but Unlimited, QD, Stick, and Marine classes are likely to leave a lot of guys out of out of something to compete in. Said another way, if someone (not a Marine) shows up with a 13.5 second automatic then he really has nothing to race for. Unfortunately, I have a feeling that those trucks will make up a lions share of the would-be racers. I know we don't have the track and time will be short, but I'm just trying to offer some outside thinking.

Believe me, we beat our heads against the wall to come up with something for everyone. Last Friday night they had over 100 cars out at Coastal Plains for T&T. That's a big concern when we only have 2 lanes and 4 hours under "accident free conditions" to make the passes.

We could come up with a class for 12s,13s,14s and so on to be fair to everyone but we just don't have the time nor the money for payouts. Our thought was to stick with what's being done in the sport now with regards to classes.

I knew the class setups would leave some out of the running. Having little experience with setting up an event such as this one, everyone's thoughts and feedback will be welcome to make it better in the future.

Jess I talked to Mike tonight and we will probably not have a index, if we do it will be down in the 6s. Did you get your second stage hooked up?

Nate dont you feel you should come out to race even if you dont like the classes? Sounds like you are out there everyweekend anyways. Support of these events is what will keep them going and getting better. The cost is minimal, how many mods can you buy for $15? Tim

I got the water meth working tonight... stand by for more vids... stupid ground...

I'm ordering a smarty from the DTR store... remember... members get the best pricing... admins get even better...

I think its time for us to talk about what a great time we will have, its not about the money its about getting together with good friends. Lets have a great time and forget about whos the winners and who doesn't win.

This is a DTR event not a DHRA or a NADAM event!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jess, My first thought was to run a 6.5 index to level the playing field for everyone racing. If all the drivers are good with that, game on.

If everyone can agree to run heads up with no index, that's fine with me too.

Hey guys, like Mike D. said, we definitely had some LONG conversations about these classes. And the high volume of racers they have @ CPD had to be taken into consideration. Maybe next year we can look into "renting" the track for the day, but seeing that we have done that in the past, we would HAVE TO know EXACTLY how many racers would be coming, then divide that number into the fee and each person would HAVE TO give us their share of that total fee. At one past event there where that was done, we had BIG PROBLEMS getting that money from everyone.

So as Mike and some of our other Members have said, lets try this set-up this year, see how it goes and then we can adjust accordingly for our event next year.

FWIW, I intend to drag race my 96', but being that I am one of the main Officers of this NCDTR Chapter, and that I am also one of the main organizers and recruiters of some of the sponsors, I WILL NOT be taking any of the gifts, prize money or contingencies for this event.

Lets all have a great time and make this the best NCDTR #18 Dyno and Drag Race we have ever had!

Thanks for listening to me!
