Carnage!

ABOVE: Center of flexplate. Note the billet shavings from the converter.

ABOVE: Pretty happy with how clean it broke.

Need to replace all the bolts. The heads are all trashed.

ABOVE: Just barely touched the front seal on the tranny.

All of the fins on the outside of the converter are tore up.

I need to thank Cliff and Dan for showing up and helping, as well as John_P and McMopar for all the guidance. I have to say it is much easier removing the trans with the broken flexplate. I pulled the trans in about 3.5 hours but the plate and converter came out with the trans. Installing will be a touch more involved. I need to get a barring tool before friday.

man Nate, I had no idea you still had the stock flex plate. I think you got your moneys worth out of it for sure. Live and learn. I knew I wouldn't be doing much racing with mine, but at the last minute I went ahead and got the billet plate from Dave when I got my trans.

hope you get it up and running soon.

Thanks Ron,

Here's the rundown, I have a flexplate I am ordering from ATS and I am working with MCMOPAR and Goerend Transmissions to get a new converter....Next Saturday she should be back up and running...

Are you going to get in on the Valve Spring sale? I cannot justify NOT buying them!!!I am going with the Hamiltons.

I can proudly say that the guys at the hobby shop left us alone. The only time they were involved was to raise or lower the lift (shop rules). But for 22 dollars it was WORTH IT!!!

NICE! Always makes me feel better to see other peoples carnage pics! I recently tore up the flex plate in my 78 W200 400/727 combo. Only mine was much worst and took out the TC and front pump seal.

The input shaft took a little abrasion above the arrow here, but it was not really a huge issue....I will think about a new one, but it sure looks ok still...Feels like someone ran a little sandpaper over it.

hobby shop .... hmmmmm i miss my days in the AF and use of the shop on base. they had about any tool needed and was always a good place to hang out with other gear heads. there were a few dummies too but mostly good guys. i wonder if something like that would be viable as a small business for civilians. i wonder what it would take to get up and running and what you'd have to charge per hour to make it a good business opportunity?

oops sorry for the threadjack.
