Nope but having $$ for a truck that works isn't a bad idea either... If I blow a VP44 I will not consider placing a HO pump on it again... too much of a PITA to be unhappy with the result

Charlie, if you make at least the first "improvement" on the left I'll have to come visit pretty regular.

All in all, that was not a good day for you at all!! I can't thank you enough for all the help you gave me with my truck though.

Although I never got intimate with BrIan in any way....contrary to whatever the pic looks like.... ......I am EXTREMELY familiar with the lower side of my truck now though...

Next meet, im going to be doing a little more relaxing and socializing like everybody else in the other pics....

Justin, you and Mike still need to name your brand of Beer!!

There are a few choices out there but most are regrinds (Haisley included). H-2 is ground fom new blank and the only one I've seen that has bolt on drive gears ...Important, to prevent gear 'walking' in our high torque diesels.... which is common with press on gears, from what I found.

At one point I was hot for a cam and did lots of research. Came away thinking H-2 or nothing. Unless you want to look at an H-3. Don M's knowledge & 'perfectionism' is hard to beat.

I would not feel as strong a need for a cam on a manual, as I do on an automatic unless towing real heavy or sled pulling.... but Pro Sportsman Valve Springs are a different story. Also the best choice for the CTD. JMO

Huh interesting... Like I said, with the estimates on this head work probably not going to happen any time soon, just curious... I was looking back on some threads and found Don M saying multiple times that the gear walking was not near as big an issue on the VP44 powered trucks as it was on the 12valves.... I'm sure it is still good insurance, however..

Well guys I think I found my place:
Ray Little (RayMac Racing Engines in Ft.Worth)
817-477-0682
decking & oring $475.
gasket $120
.043 ring size
Disassemble Vac and Mag crack check $125
Assembly $150
new seals $42 custom made Viton material
Total $912
+ tax $969 ouch...
Feel confident talking to the guy so that is always a +

Best part local!! Save myself $250 in shipping!!
Downside... Does NOT do fire rings, but of course guarantees me that the way they do the cut it will not leak... Guess I can't get it all Have some places that will do firerings but not deck the head and check it for leaks, some places that will do orings and not deck the head either (hamilton diesel)... If I'm going to have this dang thing off of there then I only want to do it once!!
