Talking I'll be there again!

Hey Jess,
I'll find the time to come down there again,,,, it was a fun day! Matter of fact, I saw a campground or two in that area which would make a nice weekend get-away trip to pull the 5er down there and spend some quality time listening to my hair grow and relaxing. I'll keep an eye out for updates and maybe we can get a bunch of the VADTR crew to come down again too.

Don't forget that the VADTR is going to have the "2nd Annual Claremont Round Up" sometime this summer also.

Good to hear from you! Where have you been???

"Coastal Plains Dragway" was supposed to have opened
last weekend. I was going to head out there, but did not
make it! However, I will do that as soon as I can to speak
with them about another event.

Jess, John_P, Tim and Dennis,

Spring run would be best. Then again, anything before August works for me. Chris, will not be back until end of June. I will be out to sea most of each month, but a few week ends at home. I can assist when I have my feet on the ground for more than 12 hrs.

John do you have a DHRA flyer to give Coastal Plains? It would be pretty neat for them to host a DHRA event in Jacksonville. Chris and I were going to take one out but we were overwhelmed with events. No Haiti for me, just running back and forth between Norfolk, Fort AP Hill and Lejeune.

Leigh,
When you speak with Chris, ask him to send me a bucket of sand If we can find a market for it, he can retire

Take care and tell Chris the same

Good to hear from you!

I will get a flyer and take it out to "Coastal Plains." I will
try to get this thing scheduled before August Leigh. I will
also give Doug Smith a call about the DHRA schedule and
all.

Leigh, I am very glad to hear you don't have to go to
Haiti!

Stay in touch!

Top,

Not too sure the sand will get much any more.

Chris sent a salty picture the other day. I'll have to post it, it tickled Geoffrey to see Dad, gotta love the mustache.
Hopefully his schedule stays in order and he is home by the end of June. I want to run the trucks a few more times before August. I was hoping to get the tractors ready for pullen, but too busy at work to accomplish that one. I'll tell Chris he needs to check the site more often!

DHRA in NC would bring all kinds of truck out of the woodwork!
Do we need to do a test and tune and call all Diesel's out? Word of mouth seems to work pretty good.

Mrs Smurf....

Jess, Chris, Leigh, Tim, Dennis and all of our N.C./Va. DTR
Groups:

As promised, I have been doing some research and checking
on possibly having a DHRA Event here similar to the one we
had back in December 03'.

I regret to have to inform you, that to make the event a
"DHRA Sponsored Drag Race Event" is going to be VERY
EXPENSIVE!! In talking with other DTR/DHRA Members
and a few vendors I found out that the cost to do this
would be as follows:

1.) $1,100.00 for administrative and advertising fees
2.) $850.00 for each class sponsored for purses
3.) $50.00 for each class sponsored for trophies

Some of the other requirements as I undertsood them in
talking with these members and vendors are as follows:

1.) Sponsor must send a written commitment to DHRA
at least thirty (30) days before the race.
2.) Sponsor must remit full payment to DHRA at least twelve
(12) days before the race.
3.) DHRA Officials handle all payouts.
4.) There are also several rules on advertising and we
would need to have a booth in the pit area to display/sell
DHRA Merchandise.

Anyway, that is what I found out. Let me know what you
all think about this. I think we can have another good event
though if we just do it "locally" like we did last time.

save your money.
you would be better off having a "local" event.just spread the word and plenty of folks will show up.there are quite a few good trucks in your area.shoot, some of us from atlanta may come over.seeing as how there won't be a DHRA event in our area ,we will be doing our own thing this year also.

Mike:

Thanks for your kind words! I appreciate your offer
on maybe coming east when we get this event a little
further along. I was very surprised on the cost to have
a DHRA sponsored event! Also surprised that none of
our N.C./Va. group has responded to this!

Guess it must be "sticker shock!"

Thanks agin Mike!

Spend the money on beverages and those great cow burgers we had the last time. I think there is more fun at the little events anyway.
I know of two trucks here in Virginia that will be there again. That was a great time last year, well, except for the smoked clutch in my truck. This has been remedied by installing a new SB clutch along with a new Scheids injector pump, a set of DDII injectors, a new FASS, a K&N filter and a few other tweaks (thanks to Forest City Diesel).

John, Mike is the guy that runs the dyno with me. He is the one that keeps me in check.

As Mike said, we'll be having the 3rd Annual DPM Diesel Shootout at Atlanta Dragway this year that you all are more than welcome to attend. Dates are September 12-13 2004.

John, Jess - If I can offer any assistance let me know and when the date is selected, if I am able to support the event, I'll be there for sure.

I'll be there

Hello everyone
I had to send Dennis a e mail so I could figure out how to log on. Thanks Dennis
John
I should be home sometime in June, we can work this like we did last year if you want. Leigh Ann is pretty busy doing her thing getting ready to go float around on a big gray boat for 6 months or so.
I do plan on going up to the Clarmount event and also to Schield's event.
Take care
See Ya
Chris
