Sent Smarty in today... to get it "Un-VIN-Locked"!
Problem appears to have been Daryl's truck, not the Smarty. If it does not have it's original ECM that matches the VIN # of the truck, the Smarty COULD read a different VIN # when you try to "return to Stock". That's the explaination I'm getting from Marco.
Based on what Darly was saying about that truck... it's a CTD rebuilt from at least two "trashed" trucks, so guess that explains it?

Should be back in the Smarty business by next week, so no major harm done! Not sure yet about returning Darlys truck to Stock??

So it sounds hit or miss that it may vin lock if the truck has an ECM that is different from the stock ECM? I say that because your ECM is not stock, correct RJ, but you have had no issues with the vin locking on yours?
I guess I will need to be careful about who I let try a "hit" off of mine when I get it
Good luck, we know Marco and Bob will get it worked out.

My ECM is not the original... but I had it reflashed by a dealer to match Vin # of truck so it's as good as the original.
But if someone bgt an ECM off a similar year and model truck... it would work for them but would confuse the Smarty!
I don't see it being a big concern as 99.999% of ECM's out there are original to their trucks. Will be interesting to see if members with MAD ECM's buy Smartys and try to reprogram their MAD ECM's. I would think most would not be willing to take the $ hit. Most will probably stay as is, or try to sell their Mad ECM's.

Rob, When's your shipping?

Bob told me via email yesterday that he is out, but Marco is getting a shipment ready for the end of the week. I would hope to have it late next week. Keeping my fingers crossed.

It would seem that checking both locations for the VIN to confirm they match first would be a good safety feature to have in place to prevent this from happening. If there is a second location that the Smarty can get the VIN from (besides the ECM) you could compare up front before even loading up the program.

The problem is, most people with used trucks would have no way to know if they have an ECM with a matching VIN number for the truck or not. So putting the Smarty on any truck where you don't know the history could be hit or miss.

A good bet if the truck has a salvage title, like in Darrell's case, that its not a good canidate for the Smarty flash....well without issue. I can imgian that this will be the only case They (Bob/Marco) will see. BUT with all new things.....new bugs will have to be worked out......just a shame that Darrell had to benifet from all of this.....haha...i just wont say anything about that Drag Comp he is going to put on his truck while on #9!! (NO...i cant do that....)

Well while yall have fun with your broke smarty, my old school MAD ECM is in my truck and I'm having a blast with it. The wet roads around here are making for some very interesting driving.

I didn't forget about that. I just seemed to have misplaced it somewhere. You understand how that is.

Probably a wise idea. I'm changing mine to spring break which is less than a month away.

No clue. If some people are up to it, I'd like to have it at my place again. Now that the house is up and running, it would be a lot of fun. Not to mention that I know a place we could go fourwheeling at that is not by 15-20 minutes from my house. It's built for trucks and 4 wheelers. It's nothing extreme at all. As a matter of fact, it's about as mild as it gets, but it's still fun.

Id like for us to consider making a camping trip to Barnwell MT in Gilmer at some point. Maybe not this coming month...but sometime. IF anybody has an ATV you could bring it. If not, you can go get your truck stuck and let a FERD pull it out .

Just a thought. Charlie, Rob, my 9 yo and I have ATVs for sure. Dan has his Mudbogger Ford truck. The nice thing about Barnwell........is it is so pretty there whether you are riding or not. And they let trucks play as well as ATVs and dirtbikes.
