I got no problem with my truck. Smarty on 5 tst on 1. Barely a haze coming off the light. Egt's at 70 run around 850-900*.

And no, there will be no fart can on the infiniti. The exhaust systems for them, the decent one's at least, are $1000+. Screw that. I've put 3 exhausts on my truck for less than that.

It's called a light foot my friend. That and a dying VP. Even before this pump started going south I didn't have a problem smoking people out. Then again, you and I might have different ideas on smoking people out but I know for a fact that I can leave a stop light with a very light haze with no problems.

I was just noticing my EGTs tonight coming home from work. At 75 mph they are running around 600-650 degrees....and im at 2000 rpms. What would cause the 200 degree difference?

I know mine are running probably 50-100 or more degrees cooler than before the Smarty. Could it be the TST? Bigger injectors maybe, causing higher EGT?

Or is it just differences in 3rd vs. 2nd gen?

It could also be the difference between a H.O. 600 series Common Rail and a S.O. ISB with an injection pump.

Not the same turbine housings.....12cm2 equivalant vs 14cm2!
BIG difference in pre-boost lag. When I had a big single with a 14 turbine housing, I had to change how I drove around town (in the summer) and wait for boost to build before I played with the throttle. Easier to handle with a manual tranny...but still a very different driving scenario.

Big difference robert is the turbo. Big turbos run a little warmer down the highway. At least in my experience they do.

Yall up for an injection pump swap? I have a feeling by the time I get it it'll be time for the meet so maybe we could do it up there?

Don't know what you guys are talking about with this pre-boost lag, and being easy on the pedal until boost comes up... Doesn't boost always come on instantly???

75 on the highway I run 800-850* bout 10-12psi

Blue u get my "special" VP puller yet??

Not yet Brian. I guess I need to check my mail box. Work has got me so strung out I don't even have time to drop bills off in the mail. But today I'm taking time out to go and do that and order the VP.

Rowland, I doubt that I'll have all of the money I'll need to get the shafts installed and if I do I'll only be able to give James a couple of days notice and I don't wanna rush him again like I did last time.

with my smaller hx it ran 600-700 cruising but would peg 1600, now it runs hotter cruising but won't go over 1350-1400 pegged...gotta give up something to get something right??

Makes sense. The little turbo is spinning up higher and moving more air at that speed than the bigger one. Hence the lower EGT's.

Well the god's, AKA my back, were good to me this paycheck. I'm set for the billet input. Now I just gotta get a hold of James for pricing and scheduling.

For me, TST on or off makes no difference in EGT's... which, if you think about it, makes sense at cruise.
Only requires X amount of fuel to maintain 75 mpg. Engine does not care where that fuel comes from. With TST on...might require less throttle, but still same quantity of fuel.
