Anyone have a suggestion on when? I can do Saturday or Sunday until hunting season starts. After that, Sunday only because there may be hunters on my property or the property gehind me.

I am building up the back stop on the pistol range some more, as I get time. I'd like to have it 15' high, but I doubt I will get that far. It's about 5.5" now.
I will move the trailer to the long range so people can sit their "wares" out for adjusting, cleaning, loading, etc.
I have a small table at the pistol range but am working on getting another table or two to give people room to do the same to there short range wares.

On targets, appliances, cans, paper, metal pepper poppers, whatever. I'd rather not use glass bottles though. Glass that happens to be in the offending appliances is OK. I will take care of disposal of the swiss cheese appliances.
I have lots of bowling pins, which make excellent pistol targets as a 44 Magnum does little damage to them. They don't handle a .270 very well though.
I also have milk jugs and other plastic bottle I have been saving, which give a great reaction when shot while filled with water.

The way things are set up, the pistol range and long range can be used simultaneously, but both ranges will have to be cold at the same time. More so the pistol range must be cold when the long range is cold, but for safety's sake, cold on both at the same time is best.

Let me know if you have questions.

Chris

Talking Any of you folks seen this?

The get-together at Stamey's sounds cool.

I also noticed that Virginia Motorsports Park (in Dinwiddie, VA) is having THIS EVENT on the 16th of Oct ....... just another idea to think about.

OK, since none of you sissies will submit a date, I'm gonna do it.
How about either Oct 9th or 10th, or Oct 23 or 24th? Do I need to post a poll?
I can do either.
I'm building up the back stop on the pistol range now, I'm up to about 6 foot, but would like to get it higher, and get some grass started on it. But don't let any of that stop you. The back stop is sufficient now, since we will be shooting downhill anyway, I just would like to have it higher.
I will need a fold up table or two if anyone has one available, for people to setup and reload. I have one small table that works great, when it's just me and a couple of other people. I'm trying to source one locally (neighbor).
The field and the yard can probably hold 40 trucks, if all the members show up.

We need to decide if we are gonna cook out or just run up the road to a resturaunt.

Sundays are always better for me as I usually work on Saturdays. I'll be with the family at Kings Dominion on the 3rd Sunday this month. If I come down I could bring my BHG (Big Honkin Grill) and cook up some of my famous wings..(If anybody would want them)
Sounds like fun though. What about high powered rifles? I have an AR15 w/ lots of ammo thats about to go bad if I don't use it...

As with any high-powered rifle, you need to make SURE of your back stop before you pull the trigger. As I do not live out in the extreme boonies, there are houses to the rear of the range, but they are at least a mile back. We will be shooting, on either range, slightly down hill, and if the bullet doesn't drop enough within 200 yards, it will run into a steep hill at the back of my property. This is my natural "backup" back stop.
If you were to point your rifle at too high an angle you'd miss the back stop and depending on the range capability of given rifle, it may go far enough to be dangerous.
If proper safety rules are followed, you can shoot your 50 caliber or 7.62, etc. without worry.

Please note, all are welcome, but if individuals knowingly ignore proper gun safety they will be asked to leave immediately by the rest of the group. I wish for this to be fun and safe for everyone.
If you are unsure of safety in some situation, ASK. There will be people here with plenty of safety training.

Either day, 23 or 24 Oct works for me.

I've got a couple of 8' tables if needed and I can bring some of my toys for folks to try.

Dodgezilla,
I am NOT saying to leave anything at home. I just want to make sure that we observe good safety practices. Bring your rifle. I feel like my back stop will handle a Howitzer, saving for the crater it would leave.
As for your BHG, that sounds great to me. Let's see what everyone else wants to do.
