Anyone know a local place that can install a new carrier in my rear and set it all up. I am looking for a reliable gear specialist who can put the bearings on the new carrier and install it correctly.

I called perry hall power and i refuse to ever go there again, when you call for a PRICE and the only thing the guy says on the phone is "I can't do it anytime soon" 3 times then he apparently doesn't need your business.

Let's see now. I was gonna tell you to go the Ron at PHP but you already called him. He is by himself now and very busy.
Mid Atlantic 4x4 in Glen Burnie comes to mind, try calling some of the local speed shops for references.

That rear gets put under alot of stress and I want it to be done right, or else I would do it myself like 99% of the other work done to the truck

Sorry still don't know. Sat is the wife's birthday and I gave her two choices, diesel event or boating? She hasn't decided.

Don't go to Mid Atlantic, they will not set it up right.......Believe me, I know..... Ron is the only place I would go right now.

When are you going to the Dyno thing in BelAir. I was thinking of going, but want to meet up and go with others......

Is there any plan for Cave work tonite. I feel like hangin' out.

Call me and let me know.

Ron doesnt need my business. When he is a jerk on the phone, I don't have any reason to give him my money.

I'll find a shop somewhere who can do it I suppose.

I understand your frustration. It is hard to find people that can do work on short notice now-a-days. I was just saying, that with enough time, Ron is the man... He may be pricey, but he knows his stuff.

Just dont take it to Mid Atlantic. You won't be able to hear your tires over the gear whine....

There has to be someone local to you that can do a decent job..

Good luck.

I am not looking for anyone to do the work on short notice, I dont even have the parts yet.

All I wanted was a price, so I know how long I'll be saving my pennies to get the truck back together properly.

Jim Jennings in Essex did my 87 monte carlo, Richmond rear gears/bearings, great job. Don't know if he does trucks though. Still hope to get up to Kingsville here one day.

didnt help that we tried to cut over to 543 from rt 1, and hit every single redlight possible, that really had the tranny warmed up getting started pulling that weight.

looks like i will be doing some reading on how to set up a dana 80 rear with preload and backlash because jim jennings wants $710 to put the carrier in and set it. I DONT THINK SO.

Do you guys know a good machine shop in MD or in the area? I tried a shop up here in Delaware and they wanted them for a week and $300 to do the job.

Also is there a wrenching day coming up soon? I've got a few things I'd like help getting installed.

Bob
