May 21 Sled Pull in Buffalo, MN

Alright folks, Saturday May 21 there is a truck, tractor and semi pull in Buffalo. About 40 minutes west of the Twin Cities right off of hwy 55. It is at the rodeo grounds, it's gonna be a great time! I'll be pulling in my truck, but last year a couple of boys from the tdr were there, but I think we can do better this year. Enter your truck, I'm 90% sure it will be a 7000 lb class for us diesel folks to enter, otherwise come out and watch!

I will have to see how things are going then. May 9 my wife is going to get a new knee installed so it depends a lot on how she is doing.

Tom, you say it like it is so simple! "she's going to get a new knee installed"... I hope you're not trying to save money and install it yourself! On a more serious note, I hope everything goes well for her, I've got a few friends that had knee problems - no good...

Lots of pulling to get done this summer.

Red River Valley Pullers

Thanks for the link Matt. I added it to the RRVPA calendar. I believe Josh Peters pulled there last year.

Yeah, Josh pulled there last year, so did Andy (turbotweaker) and another TDR feller. Josh got some faulty tips before it started (IMO), he was told to not give it full throttle until about the 75 foot mark. He never really got the sled moving so the Scrap Iron Express worked him over. He managed to get under 7000 lbs, though!

If anyone wants a registration form, PM me your name and address and I'll have someone from the Saddle Club (they're sponsoring it) send you one, or you can register the night of.

Hey Diesel Burner, I'm going to have Ma shoot some video of my truck, and a few others. If you want, I'd be happy to send you a copy of the video, or at least get some pics up.

Thanks for posting that Red River link, I'll be checking that out now...

I may have a way to be able to show up after all. I will be picking my sister up in Lakeville that weekend and bringing her to my house for a week.

Those new breed of weight transfer sled require an educated foot. Josh and the other guys with training wheels do have an advantage if they have the horsepower to get the sled momentum.

I'm a novice, too... Only had 2 hooks. What do you mean about the new breed of sleds? How do you normally run the go pedal? My current theory is to ease into it so that you're full throttle about 40 feet or so. My first pull I spun too much right off the line, my 2nd I never even hit full throttle. I really want to dissapoint my buddies! They're all Chevy and Ford boys who don't think I'll pull for crap. Since this is my hometown, I just want to put on a show and throw some smoke, hopefully the sled comes with!

Just found out, the weight class is actually 7200 lbs. It's limited to 15 entries, not much for rules, only current liscense. 20 per hook for preregistration, 25 the day of. For more info, call 612-490-5207

Tom, you gonna hook?

If I did something like that my wife would kill me!!! Not that I would not be fun, but with a 2wd I probably don't stand much of a chance at making a full pull. Anyhow, I just saw Magnum back on the board so maybe we can get him there to pull????

What sled is scheduled for the event? Scrap Iron Express II is not scheduled that day.

The new breed is weight transfer with a few surprises. A sled with front wheels will take load off the pan to get you started. They will remove the front wheel assist anywhere from sled first movement to x feet down the track.
Look for air bags or mechanical release latch on the pan. They will produce a sudden weight and drag transfer when tripped. Hopefully someone will pull ahead of you or a veteran will offer pulling advice on the sled. Look for that trip point. You want maximum track speed and maximum controlled horsepower at that point.

Normally, you are first concerned with getting the sled moving then quickly building track speed while controlling wheel speed.

Is this a street legal or open class? If Dave Oldenburg shows up look for 2nd at best. He is a seasoned puller with a street legal. If opens are allowed, Gus Mackereth has the killer truck.
