Where the heck IS everybody??

Broke, out of money, and saving what little else they have is my guess. For me, I'm fine.........but it's hard to spend and justify it all when you see others hurting so much.

Hey guys, hope all is well. I'm getting ready to go pick up my 2nd gen beater. Its one ugly truck but the P pumped 12 valve and NV should eventually make a nice donor for my 1st gen. Sorry i haven't been around much but its almost depressing to see whats going on in the diesel world when yours is out of commission.

Well I just made it home with the cream puff 2nd gen. After driving this thing and seeing it in my driveway, I'm thinking it will become a donor much sooner than i had originally planned.

Congrats on the new truck!

What year is this "donor" truck, and does it have anything (that you don't need) that might be useful on a '99 quadcab?

What ARE your plans, anyhow?

hey fellas, old member checking in from Southeast Georgia..

Money is starting to loosen up again some, so starting to mod some. Ordered some LazarLinks yesterday to hopefully take the bump out of my front end where the sway bar links in my opinion were worn out, and bent from the 2" leveling kit.

Still saving some for the tranmission. I am so ready to do that..

How is everyone?

Well...
My old Cummins is still Hummin. But something turned loose with a bang this afternoon. I don't remember if it happend when the tranny shifted the *last* time, or was it when the TC locked up.

It coasted to a stop; no power to the wheels, no grinding noises from the tranny or xfer case. No big chunks of aluminum missing from either (that I could see, anyhow). I had it towed to my shop, where I'll take a look at it tomorrow.

I hope you get lucky and that front axle is still good from your donor truck. That twin traction beam crap sucks!!!!

I had a F150 with 6" lift and 36" swampers that had the exact same paint scheme as that one! It was a sweet ride that turned heads eveywhere it went! Some black smoke would make it turn even more heads!!!

dmax,

I know what you mean about the beams.. I think I am going to try on my machinist shoes and make delrim bushings.... instead of the OEM replacements... If it were not for the bushings, it would be an okay setup..

To me it was just crappy all the way around. Its a half butt beefed up Dana 44 cut in half is all. The internals are way too small to handle any serious diesel power. And dont get me started on that inverted Y linkage steering crap or whatever its called! That junk handled so goofy its unreal!

I think that Dana 60 would be right at home under there! And it would take very little modification!

Not sure how badly damaged the D60 is. It took the brunt of the impact, and it would make it easier just using the entire Dodge Drive train then.

That is the only thing I do not have figured out.. How to make the Dodge trans work in th4e ford.. Isn't the 47RE controlled by the computer?

Happy, if I'm not mistaken you can buy "stand alone" controllers for the trans.

Yeah Happy, talk to ATS and see what they have to offer. It can be done! Does the Ford have a manual? If so you can just use it if need be. There are flywheel housings availabe to mount ANY OEM trans to the back of the Cummins.
