TS in April deffinately going only
While I was de-winterizing the camper, the slide out stopped working. Only the front part of the unit wants to move. The back part has to be pushed. I am going to contact the local RV park and see if they have any mechanics that can help with this. It sat closed up all winter and slid out OK this afternoon but the rear track will not move. But it can be moved by pushing on the outside/inside.
I just spoke with Todd, he thinks that if he leaves at 10 PM also that should put him at the meeting place (exit 298 I-81) between 12 and 1, which is the same for us. Once meeting we will take 81 south to 64 West to 65 south. Which should put us in Bowling Green around 10 AM.
dropped the trailer off yesterday morning and they couldn't work on it all day because of rain and other commitments. Got to it this morning, and found a sheared pin on the ram for the aft track of the slide out. Replaced the pin and everything works good. Now for the next bit of bad news: both rear tires are severly worn on the inside part of the tread, one even has about a 1" wide band of belt showing with parts worn all the way thru the belt.
Wouldn't last 20 miles probably. The other is not as bad but not far away either. We, mechanic and I, figured that because the Dodge 4x4 naturally sits high it forces the trailer nose high and puts all the weight on the rear two tires. The front two tires look about new still. So as of right now I have two tires coming in the morning and hopefully they will have it all taken care by noon tomorrow. So far this trip has cost $120 for the slide fix and $115 for each new tire. I haven't even topped the fuel off yet....
